

Eduardo Kayas Gomez was an expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual. For Eduardo, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark or the twinkle of an eye. And with just those simple gestures, he could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Eduardo really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.
Eduardo was born on April 7, 1942 in Manila, Philippines. His parents were Eduardo and Trinidad. Eduardo was raised in Manila. Even as a child, Eduardo had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around him. Eduardo was raised with five siblings. He had an older brother Rey (deceased) & younger sister Cynthia, Marilou, Evelyn (alive), and Rosalinda (deceased). Eduardo experienced a rather active childhood, and this suited him very well. He took part in basketball, and in his spare time he liked to play marbles, tag, and outdoor games with his cousins.
Eduardo utilized his interest in others as a great way to connect with them. While growing up, his best friends were his cousins & neighbors. Later in life, he became friends with Rody Ocampo, Frank Kayas Jr., and Rody Granados. Eduardo loved sharing life and having his home filled with people he knew.
Eduardo graduated from Arellano High School in 1958. He enjoyed some courses more than others, and his favorite class in high school was Math. Eduardo reveled in his college years, where his imagination could run free. He relished the task of putting his imagination to work in class, and in time he earned his BS Civil Engineering.
On January 25, 1963 Eduardo exchanged wedding vows with Shirley Lourdes Montes at Manila Cathedral of Manila, Philippines. Eduardo was blessed with four children, Shirley, Catherine, Lalaine & Enrique. They were also blessed with seven grandchildren and one grandpuppy --Jan Paulo, Jason Clark, Charles, Edric, Ethan, Elroy, Elaine, and Dasher.
When dealing with various projects and problems, Eduardo was an adaptable realist, using his common sense and trusting his experiences and impulses to uncover the correct answer. His primary occupation was in Civil Engineering, managing a Construction Company. He was self-employed at Hilite Construction Company.
Throughout his youth, Eduardo played basketball. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were basketball and football.
Vested with a deep concern for spiritual development, Eduardo recognized that his faith was important to him throughout his life. He was a member Holy Spirit Church.
Eduardo was naturally curious about other parts of the world and loved the real life adventure that came from visiting them. Favorite vacations included the Alaskan Cruise, visiting Paris, Portugal, and London, attending his grandsons' graduation, and his final trip on a Mediterranean Cruise to Italy.
Eduardo believed that you had to experience life, and his life in retirement was no different. When that day finally arrived in 2020, Eduardo took it in stride as one more way to have fun. His new life involved relocating to Las Vegas. With his boundless energy and a desire to get the most out of life, Eduardo remained busy with people and projects.
Eduardo passed away on November 5, 2022 at Las Vegas, Nevada due to natural causes. He is survived by his children Shirley (Robert), Cathy (Mario), Lalaine, Enrique( Luzvilla), and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friends best friends please add Pocholo, Al, Delfin & Kibbs.
Services will be held at Palm Southwest Mortuary & Holy Spirit Church. Eduardo will be laid to rest in Palm Cemetery.
Eduardo brought joy to all of those around him, and always looked on the bright side of things. He loved to share his energy, wit, and his zest for all of his activities with his friends and family. Eduardo Kayas Gomez lived life to its fullest and made everyone around him happier just for knowing him. He will be remembered with a smile.
