Edwin Allorde Manlangit was born on November 8, 1948 in Ligao, Albay, Philippines to parents Jaime P. Manlangit and Luz Allorde [Manlangit]. Edwin was one of eleven children and was the second oldest. His siblings are Berting, Nicasio, Vicente, Edna, Vilma, Nonito, Peter, Alily, Joel, and Alma. Nicasio, Vicente, and Peter had unfortunately passed on. Edwin grew up in a town called Kinastiliohan with his eldest brother, Berting, in their grandparents’ home until he graduated high school. After high school he went on to receive an associates degree and a computer vocation certification. He also enlisted in the Philippine Constabulary military branch and was ranked as Sergeant until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1979. During his service he was stationed in Pampanga, where he met his future wife, Isabelita Paguio.
On February 21, 1976, Edwin and Isabelita got married in Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga. Because Edwin had a love for agriculture and farming, they went on to own farmland both in Tarlac, Pampanga and Ligao, Albay. This was the main source of their livelihood and enjoyment in life. They were later blessed with three children, Angiela, Rommel, and Mark. A little over a decade after their son Mark was born, they migrated to New Jersey, USA, where they continued their life adventures together as a family, while still working on and maintaining their agriculture business in the Philippines.
Edwin was a kind, friendly, honest, caring, creative, loyal, compassionate, supportive, loving, patient, and humble man who loved his wife and children so much. He grew up with a very strong obligation to help his parents and siblings as well. He enjoyed being with his family and helping those who needed help. He enjoyed walking around in his farms when possible, planting and planning for the future of his farmlands, and having great conversations with people. He also loved drawing, writing, fishing, listening to music, and was a wonderful singer.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Isabelita, and his sons Rommel and Mark. He was blessed with five grandchildren whom he enjoyed spending time with and loved so much. Alex (24) and Audrey (22) are the children of their late daughter, Angiela and her husband Glen. Madeline (15), Matteo (11), and Lorenzo (3), are the children of Mark and his wife Jackie. They all call him Papu, and Papu will be missed dearly.
