Elaine Frances Pierce (Northcott), born March 15, 1945, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and 20-year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on January 2, 2024. A cherished wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, schoolteacher, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Elaine’s last courageous journey ended at Henderson Hospital surrounded by her family: her children, David (Onalea), Robert (Irlene), Steven (Jen), Christine (Derek) and her husband of 55 years, Arnold. She was a source of unwavering support for her children, instilling in them the values of love, perseverance, and creativity. Although geographically far away from her three grandchildren, Tegan, Sydney, and Christopher, she held them close in her heart. She dearly enjoyed her phone conversations with her sister, Carrol, and brother, Arnie.
Her artistic talents knew no bounds. Her passion for cross-stitching, sewing, and knitting was a legacy she generously shared with family and friends. She played piano for various church and school programs. Her chocolate pumpkin cake was legendary, a cherished recipe that will continue to bring comfort and joy to her family and friends.
Elaine had a zest for adventure. Growing up she was an avid Girl Guide achieving their highest level. She enjoyed traveling in her motorhome over flying. Her brave spirit led her from the familiar streets of Calgary to the vibrant energy of Las Vegas, where she embraced life's adventures with open arms.
Her dedication to her faith was evident in her active involvement and regular attendance in churches throughout her life. Often, she would grace the congregation with her dynamic scripture readings. Constantly learning, she completed a four-year theology course from The University of the South in May 2023. She even surprised herself by singing in Handel’s Messiah just three weeks before her death.
Elaine was very proud of her victorious battle with breast cancer being a 20-year survivor.
Living her best 78 years, Elaine's legacy is one of love, courage, and creativity. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of moments that touched and enriched the lives of all who knew her. Elaine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into this world.
Elaine’s 79th birthday would have been celebrated on March 15, 2024, so please join her family and church community in a celebration of life at 1:00 pm, on that day, at Christ Church Episcopal in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In lieu of gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Elaine’s favorite event, The Lobster Fair, at Christ Church Episcopal.
