The only child of Elizabeth and Emanuel Volungan, Lenny was born on December 15th, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She met the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Duda, in 1949, and became his partner for life when they wed on May 5th, 1951. During their 65 years of marriage, they joyously welcomed three daughters and three grandchildren into the world.
In her younger years, Lenny was a dedicated aquatic champion, winning countless medals and trophies in swimming and diving competitions. She was an accomplished bowler, a gifted cook, a lover of travel, and a lifelong hockey fan. Her business strength was in sales and she excelled in every endeavor in that arena.
Lenny became enamored of all things related to the desert southwest in her early 20’s and of the glamour and energy of Las Vegas in her late 30’s. Combined, they were a perfect fit and a strong enough draw that she convinced her husband to move their family from East Detroit, Michigan to Las Vegas in 1974.
Lenny was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband. She is survived by her daughters Denise Lammert, Debra Duda and Diana McClain; sons-in-law Mark Lammert and Harvey McClain, grandchildren Jackie Lammert, Jenna Lammert-Ricard and Matthew McClain.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A celebration of life reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Lenny by donating to either of her favorite charities: Wounded Warrior Project (to support veterans and their families) at woundedwarriorproject.org; or Three Square (a Las Vegas food bank) at threesquare.org.
