Gloria Tumaneng Barreiro, age 87, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Gloria was born and raised in Laoag City, Philippines, the youngest of four daughters, to Servillano and Francisca Tumaneng.
She married Jesus Barreiro of La Union/Manila in 1962 and raised a family of four children before immigrating to the United States in 1987.
Gloria received a masters degree from Divine Word College and went on to work briefly as a teacher and later as an executive secretary for many years. She spent her final career years as an editor for the California State Department of Education until retiring in 2006. She then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, shortly after where she built an incredible community of friends and relatives. A force of nature, Gloria made friends wherever she went; people were drawn to her vibrant energy, enchanting smile, generosity, grace and charm.
Gloria loved entertaining and cooking her specialty dishes for guests. She relished social engagements, especially if there was dancing. How she loved to dance! A devout Catholic, Gloria enjoyed traveling the world on pilgrimages and put her piano talents to use playing for her local churches (where she was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary.)
Above all, Gloria loved her family and no sacrifice was too large to make sure her loved ones were taken care of. To know Gloria is to love Gloria and she will be greatly missed.
Gloria is survived by a sister, a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. May she rest in peace.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4-8PM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113. Eulogies will begin Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:30AM with a funeral mass to follow at 11AM, all at Christ The King Catholic Church, 4925 S Torrey Pines Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
