

Herman F. Brinkmeyer, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away June 30, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Prescott, Ariz., May 12, 1926, to Herman and Emily Brinkmeyer. He attended Lincoln Elementary and Prescott High School where he lettered in track, football, and basketball. In 1944, Herb joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Allusion Islands. He worked in the hotel Industry from 1952 until his retirement in 1993 from the Riviera Hotel, finally having time to enjoy his favorite pass time Golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Plummer; and stepson, Charles W. Russ. He married Carol "Cookie" Russ, the love of his life, Aug. 14, 1976. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Ron) Clutters and Sandy (John) Leyva; his son Robert (Kathy) Brinkmeyer; grandchildren, Melissa Horowitz, Chelle Lozano, Shonna Clutters, Ryan Tyson, Jennifer Sexauer, Theresa Bixby and Dylan Brinkmeyer; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jaclyn Horowitz, Nicholas Lozano, Logan, Reese and Bliss Tyson, Cade and Brynn Sexauer, Bailey and Emily Bixby; stepchildren, Suzanne (Gabe) Tamayo-Soto and Michele (Kevan) Tusa and their children, Tony "Rob," Angelicia, Gabriel, Michael and Krystal Tamayo, and Brooke and Nicholas Tusa; stepgreat-grandchildren, Emiliyano, Giselle and Rafa Tamayo. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, July 5, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be sent to the Prescott Fire Department Administration, Attn. PFFC Granite Mt. Donations, 1700 Iron Springs Road, Prescott, AZ 86305, for the families of the Granite Mt. Hot Shots on behalf of Herman Brinkmeyer.
