Ira was born on April 21,1943 in Passaic, NJ to Anne (nee Binder) and Charles Rosenmertz and has been a Southern Nevada resident since 1998. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Stanley Rosenmertz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Rosenmertz; daughter and her companion, Melanie Rosenmertz and Brian Stern; son, Seth Rosenmertz; and granddaughter and her husband, Jorian Rosenmertz-Lenik and Max Lenik.
Ira graduated from Rutgers University, served in the United States Army, and was a member of the Knights of Pythias. He was a great leader, mentor, philanthropist, and a champion of the rights of the deaf and the blind. He was an avid golfer, world traveler, food connoisseur, and profoundly connected to his Jewish identity as a longstanding member of Temple Beth Sholom. He was truly a great friend to everyone he met.
Funeral and burial services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane,Las Vegas. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Rosenmertz Family Research Fund at the University of Iowa Center for Vision Research. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
