It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irma Lischewski, on Sunday November 11, 2018, at the the age of 87 years. Irma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Chris and Cornelia, and her daughter-in-law, Louise. She will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren, Tim, Lillian and Raithe. Irma was predeceased by husband Dieter, Brother Hubert and Sister Ursula.
Irma was born on May 19, 1931 in Neidenburg, Germany. She moved to the United States in 1956 to marry a young man, the love of her life, Dieter Lischewski, who she knew from elementary school. Dieter passed away much too early, in 1976, but he continued to be a presence for Irma until the very end.
Life, literally, took Irma many places as Dieter was a career man in the Air Force. She moved with her husband and two children many times, in Germany as well as the United States, each time having to put down new roots and create a new home. Two places where she always found comfort were the Catholic Church and her career. Her faith was very important to her and she was active in all of her parishes. Being musical, she served as the organist in several parishes. With regards to her career, Irma was a Registered Nurse and for many years she was the head nurse of the Intensive Care Unit at Sunrise hospital in Las Vegas. During retirement she took up quilting, and as with all her endeavors, she mastered the art of quilting very quickly.
Irma spent the last few years of her life in San Diego close to her son, daughter-in-law and grandson. She had a good, long life. Her passing was calm and peaceful with both of her children at her side.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Irma’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thomas More Catholic Church located at 130 N. Pecos Road in Henderson. This will be followed by her burial at Palm Valley View Memorial Park located at 7600 S. Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas.
