Jeanelle was born on January 7, 1971 in Reno, NV to Salvador and Doris (Dulgar) Ruiz. Jeanelle was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her devoted husband of nearly nine years, Scott, her loving daughters Elayna and Elizabeth, sisters Marion Kessler (Bart) and Mimi Ruiz (David), as well as the always feisty six-year-old Pomeranian, Lulu.
Jeanelle attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from 1989-1993 and was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. During her sorority life, she served as the Chapter President as well as Vice President of Recruitment. Following her graduation in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Business, she further supported the chapter as an alumni advisor.
Upon graduation, Jeanelle held a number of different jobs before settling in at Orthopedic Specialists of Nevada (OSON). She worked at OSON as an Orthopedic Assistant for nearly 22 years.
In August 2011, Jeanelle met Scott at a Sugarland concert in Las Vegas. They dated for five years before getting married in October 2016. Jeanelle was a big sports fan and enjoyed traveling to sporting events or simply watching them on TV. She also loved to cook, bake, watch old movies, or go out to nice dinners with friends and family.
Jeanelle was admired and loved by everyone she came in contact with and will be most remembered for being the world’s greatest fighter, along with her qualities of love, honesty and dedication.
For the seven years since Jeanelle’s diagnosis, her life was extended by a number of medical professionals who tended to her personal needs at St. Rose Siena in Las Vegas, USC’s Keck Hospital in LA and at MD Anderson in Houston. Jeanelle wanted to thank all of the medical experts for taking the time to take such great care of her along this difficult road.
