Jesus Antonio Piña (“Güero”) passed away on June 7, 2023, at the age of 57, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. His joyful spirit and positive attitude were contagious. Güero made everyone he met in life his friend. He was the best chef, storyteller, jokester, imitator, and loved to entertain people in his home. Güero was a great dad, husband, tata, brother (both inside and outside of his congregation), uncle, cousin, co-worker, and friend.
Güero was born in Sinahuiza, Navojoa,Sonora México to Victoria Palomares and Matias Espiridion Piña. He was the youngest of eight siblings and at the age of twenty-three, Güero left Mexico and traveled to Mesa, Arizona in search of opportunities—and likely some fun. During his lifetime, he worked hard as an iron worker, bail bondsman, bounty hunter, paver, construction worker, and all over the restaurant industry.
Güero met the love of his life Maria, shortly after he relocated to Las Vegas in 1991. Together, they raised five children: Laura, Kathy, Jesse, Juan, and Jocelynne. Güero is also survived by two grandsons, Jace and Markel, and their dads, Alex and Xabi.
Güero was a man of faith and was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation.
A visitation for Güero will be held Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
