Jesus “Jesse” Ribas, 70, a 16-year resident of Las Vegas, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2014 at Nathan Adelson Hospice with his loving wife, Juanita, of 42 years at his side. Jesus was born on March 13, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York to the parents of Julius and Carlota Ribas. Jesse was the youngest of six children. His other siblings were Ishmael, Hilda, Julio, William “Willie”, and Elsie. The Ribas family moved to California around 1956 where Jesse continued his schooling, family life, and employment. Jesse was a loyal union advocate; he worked union; and was involved in the sheet metal Union Representation where he was elected to a local and international Union Board as President. He continued serving the Union in the “Retirees Club”, participating in their benefit events and political functions. Jesse served the Union for 25 years. In 1998, he and his wife, Juanita, moved to Nevada for their retirement years. Jesse enjoyed the atmosphere where he could participate in his favorite hobby and passion in life: fishing. Jesse thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of fishing and the camaraderie of other fisherman. Jesse loved the affection of his pet Yorkie Terriers—Midget, Rosie, Buddy, and Gracie; they all brought him much happiness. He also enjoyed NFL football, and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. But his greatest passion was fun, food, and family—not necessarily in that order. Jesse loved entertaining, telling jokes, making people laugh or at least putting a smile on their face. Jesse’s humor continued throughout his illness, even up to his passing. Jesse is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita; daughters Martinique and Ting; son Joey; and several grandchildren, all of whom live in southern California, and brought great joy to him.
