With hearts full of love, we announce the passing of our beloved Jocelyn Somera Alvarado, who left us on October 20th, 2024, at the age of 78. Born in Quezon City, Philippines, on October 4, 1946, Jocelyn embodied grace, dedication, and timeless elegance.
At 28, she moved to Maui, where she built a life that touched many. Her career spanned roles at Hale Makua, Party Pantry, Bank of Hawaii, and Royal Lahaina, then working as a teller at SeaFirst Bank and Old National Bank in Downtown Seattle before finding her true calling as Housekeeping Coordinator at the Four Seasons. Her attention to detail and warmth made every space she worked in feel like home, including helping to open the Four Seasons in Las Vegas. Jocelyn earned her education at the National College of Business and Arts in the Philippines, which gave her the foundation for her successful career.
Her love language was food, and her home was always filled with the aroma of meals prepared with care—especially her famous pianono. She balanced elegance with a grounded love for life, whether impeccably dressed like her father, Vicente, or enjoying nature, picking mushrooms, or camping on the beach. She remained deeply connected to her roots, traveling back to the Philippines to visit family and savor the memories of her youth.
Jocelyn is now reunited with her parents, Vicente and Cecilia Somera, and siblings Vicente, Benjamin, Ernesto, and Rafael Somera. She is survived by her sister, Florencia Infantado, and her daughters, Naolani Holdefehr and Elijah Gedeon along with their families, will forever cherish her memory.
We will miss her love for casino trips, drama shows, and her unbeatable skills at bargain hunting. Above all, we will miss her kindness, her radiant presence, and the love she brought into every part of her life.
