our heavenly father on February 14, 2018 at 10:51 pm. at Nathan Acheson Hospice
Care Center. My dearly beloved husband had fought a long battle with health issues
until his poor body could no longer bear it anymore.
Joey was born on September 8, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe and Angelita
Arciniega. Joey had met his is partner, soul mate, best friend, and the love of his life,
Jeannie Pearson Arciniega, when they were only kids. They both grew up in the same
neighborhood in Buena Park, California. Had known each other since 3rd grade, waited
at the same bus stop, caught the same bus for 4 hours, walked the same route to
school, and went to the same high school, Savana High in Anaheim California, the two
had grown very close to each other.
After high school, Joey worked for the City of Buena Park where he pursued
landscaping and maintenance briefly until he was called to work for General Motors
Auto Plant in South Gate, California.
Joey’s passion always was cars, whether it was buying them, fixing them, or
racing them. His own father was his mechanic, so he never had to worry about taking
his cars to different mechanics.
Joey was drafted in the Army during the Vietnam War. He has his training in Fort
Ord, Monterey, California. Once he completed his training, he was then shipped off to
Germany where he served his country from 1970-1972 proudly.
3 years later, Joey reunited with his love, Jeannie, the girl he’s known since 3rd
grade. They married on February 22, 1976. Nine months later, the couple had a
wonderful baby names Leah. She was the carbon copy of her father. Leah became the
comedian of the family for years, just like Joey.
Joey was in no doubt a happy man. He was the life of the party. He loved to tell
jokes and believe me, he had plenty. Joey never found life unhappy. He loved to
socialize no matter if the person was a stranger to him. He would always light up the
conversation. That’s what life was like to my Joey. He always wanted to make people
happy.
Most of all, Joey loved his Samoan family. It was as if he was born into it. When
my mother would speak to him in Samoan, he understood. He was also very well loved
in most of Samoan Community in Southern California.
Joey is survived by his love Jeannie, his daughter Leah Maxson, his son
Tony Pearson and Patrick Pearson-Chock, his grandchildren Jaden Maxson, Jordyn
Maxson, Penny Pearson, Leilani Pearson, Alex Pearson, Tikinni Pearson-Chock, and
Maliko Pearson-Chock. Joey loved his family and his family loved him back. Thank you.
