John Anthony Laurie

John Anthony Laurie, Sr. 78, of Henderson, Nevada was born on February 9, 1938 in Chicago to Frank and Emma Laurie and passed away on May 30, 2016. John found his soul mate, love of his life and partner Fran and was married for 41 years. Upon retirement they relocated to Arizona and finally settled in Nevada to be near family. John was the loving Father of Debbie (Gary) Schinski, John (Norma) Laurie, Frank (Sue) Laurie; cherished Grandfather of John (Nicole) Hujer, Angela (Kevin) Strauss, Rocco Laurie, Celeste (Ryan) Huber, Nick (Barbara) Laurie, Nina Laurie; and Great-Grandfather to Gina, Johnny, and Gianna. John was a Teamster for 17 years. He became employed at Fel-Pro in Skokie, Illinois in 1980. He was a Warehouse Foreman and retired in 1991. Two of his favorite hobbies were playing racquetball and handball. He was a team Father for his sons football and baseball teams while living in Chicago and California. He was an avid Chicago football, baseball and hockey fan. Always a patriot and proud of his Italian heritage he loved cooking, making homemade Italian sausage and his specialty pizza. He loved history and historical documentaries about our country and two of his favorite movies were "Dances with Wolves" and "Gladiator". Some of his fondness memories were spending time with family and annual vacation trips to South Lake Tahoe to enjoy the beauty and all it had to offer and boating with his grandson.

He brought joy and happiness to all that knew him and he will be missed more than words can express.He was laid to rest on June 10, 2016 at Palm Eastern Mortuary Las Vegas, Nevada.
