

John was born in San Francisco, California, on December 31, 1954, and he was the first child of Nicholas and Sue Somaduroff.
John Henry Somaduroff, retired P# 1974, was hired by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 1979, worked in various assignments in the Clark County Detention Center, and retired in 2008. During his employment with LVMPD, John was a member of the Honor Guard, assisted the Civil Air Patrol, was a member of the Police Olympics Committee, and was the coordinator for the annual Christmas party sponsored by LVMPD benefitting Helen J. Stewart School for special needs students.
John was adventurous and enjoyed activities such as becoming an Eagle Scout, being part of the Explorers Program, learning how to pilot a plane, scuba diving, snow skiing, and fishing. He had a talent in knowing how to build or fix things which came in very handy during home improvement projects.
After retiring from the Police Department John and Paula enjoyed the freedom of traveling. Travels included taking RV road trips, motorcycle rides, and cruises. The last memorable trip John enjoyed was to Paris and London in 2019.
John is survived by his wife Paula, sons Christopher Rivera, Timothy Rivera and his wife Lori, grandsons Ryker Rivera and Slade Rivera, sister Sue Somers, brother Nick Somers and his wife Tracy, nephew Michael Somers and his wife Shannon, great nephews Vincent Somers, Wyatt Somers, and Logan Smith.
