Sarah and Zelig were both survivors of the Holocaust and tragically lost both sets of parents and multiple siblings in the genocide. Joshua was born alongside his twin sister, Ricky, and was greeted into this world by his older brother, Moishe. Joshua fought for his country as a combat soldier during the Yom Kippur War. After surviving an injury, Joshua started a new adventure in America. He met Paula Stern, and they married within weeks without even being able to speak the same language. After a few years of communicating in broken Yiddish, he became fluent in English. They settled in Buffalo, NY. They eventually moved away from the cold weather at his request and started a new life in South Florida. They became parents in 1985 to a daughter named Rachael. In 2009, they moved to Las Vegas and continued to appreciate the warm weather. Joshua loved his community so much. He enjoyed working with his hands as a welder and helping people select fresh produce at the grocery store. Even after retiring, he found ways to continue his passions by building projects at home and volunteering daily with a meal donation charity. Joshua loved going to the gym and making new friends.
He had such an ambition to set goals and achieve them. Joshua was so strong and optimistic until the very end. He will continue to inspire us all to get what we want out of life, build community, and find adventures where we can. He will be sorely missed.
