Growing up in Miami, Florida, Kate was raised by her grandparents Thomas and Rosa Gaines, along with many precious aunts and uncles who were more like siblings.
After graduating from Carver High School in 1956, she traveled to Detroit, Michigan to explore, and there, she met her future husband, Leslie B. Tate. Upon Kate’s return to Florida, Leslie Tate requested that Kate accompany him to Las Vegas. The two of them, together, relocated to Las Vegas and wed on September 2, 1961. Leslie and Kate brought two daughters into the world, Anzel Charise Tate on June 6, 1962, and Bridget Lenay Tate on February 14, 1966.
Although Leslie and Kate divorced, their love for their children endured. Kate served the community for over 33 years retiring from the County Assessor’s office in 1995. Kate Dean Tate was a valued member of the community, an endearing neighbor, and most of all, a loving mother.
Kate loved jazz music and dancing.
We rejoice with her as she is now able to dance again…Psalm 27.

Kate was preceded in death by her twin, Rebecca, at birth; her parents; husband; and brother Jeoffrey Dean.
Kate is survived by her daughters Anzel Charise Tate and Bridget Lenay Tate; and siblings: Phyllis Dean Nelson, Larry Dean, Loran Dean, Alberta Dean Wilson, Henton Dean III, Mary Helen Dean, Vivian Diane Dean, Clementine Dean Johnson, Jewel Dean Williams, and Lloyd Dean; aunt Lizzie Dean Timmons; and several cousins.
