

The Life Story of Linda Ellen Prescod
The sunrise of Linda Ellen Prescod’s life was on December 10, 1946 to parents, William H. Prescod and Shirley Ponce. The sunset of Linda Prescod's life was on October 03, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Linda attended parochial school before moving to Los Angeles, California where she graduated from Dorsey High School in 1964 and embarked on a diverse career path. Linda’s professional experiences included in-home healthcare, bartending, United Airlines airport service, and California Department of Corrections senior administrator and onsite firefighter which Linda retired from the State of California after 15 years of dedicated service.
Linda shared her heart full of love, commitment and passion for her family and many friends. Linda was often called Auntie, as she mentored many young people of the family, children of her friends and youth in the community. Also, Linda was called a “socialite” as she frequently chatted on the phone and social media with her family and friends. What’s more, Linda was well known as the best sportscaster of the latest sports news since she loved to watch a variety of sports especially on “Sports Saturday” including college sports-Alabama Teams, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Hockey, Golf, Formula 1 Car Races, and more. Likewise, Linda’s passions during her leisure time was playing board games such as backgammon, spades, bid-whist and Solitaire, and she enjoyed playing digital games like Black Jack, Keno and Solitaire.
Linda was preceded in death by her father William Prescod, her mother Shirley Ponce-Griffin, step-mother Roberta Prescod, her brothers: Terry Prescod, and Theodore R. Griffin, Jr., her sister, Marianne Griffin, and her grandson Dominic W. Butler.
Linda is survived by her sisters: Theodora Lavender, Sandra Valentine, and Pat Kelly, and her brothers: Frankie Nash, Art Jackson, Fred Jackson, and Don Jackson.
Linda is survived by her four children (D1)-Monique Lee, (D2)-Chantay Lee-Richardson, (D3)-Dr. Keisha Lee, and (S1)-James W. Simpson, III.
Linda also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Leon J. Flaherty, Jr., Lee A. Flaherty, Dante Richardson, Siobhan Richardson, James W. Simpson, IV, Dr. Jamel W. Simpson, and Jamar W. Simpson. Thirteen great grandchildren, Leon-III, Noel, Nia, Imani, Christelle, Justin, Malachi, Zachariah, Grady Jr., Haylo, Hayven, Janessa, and Jhene’ and one great, great grandchild, Zayir. Linda also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless close friends across the country.
Linda will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will always be remembered in everyone’s heart.
A visitation for Linda will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 4-8 PM and on Friday, October 24,2025 from 10-11am, all at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113, where funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025.
