Lois was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1946, to Ann (Nee Rashow) and Martin Steinberg. She is survived by her husband Rabbi Simon Bergman, daughters Stefanie (Rabbi Yitzchak Etshalom), Alisa Bergman, Jodi (Craig Kurtzman) and Mandi (Michael Wilgard); grandchildren Yossi, Ariella, Roni, Avi, and Kovy Etshalom, Mallory, Haydin and Brady Kurtzman, and Leah and Seth Wilgard.
She started her career as a registered nurse anesthetist in Pennsylvania where she made her mark in the medical community for many years before coming to Las Vegas where she pursued the second phase of her lifelong career in education. From Mommy and Me, to Preschool, to religious school, to B’nai Mitzvah, she was a teacher of thousands of children, serving the Las Vegas Community at multiple synagogues since August of 1979. Also affectionately known as Miss Lois, she lived for her family and her students, and they meant the world to her. She had a significant impact on the Las Vegas Jewish Community, and she left an indelible impression on all the students that she taught and everyone with whom she came in contact. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Miss Lois can be made to CNT's Preschool Early Childhood Fund or CNT's Religious School Enrichment Fund by clicking here.
