

Lucille Matthews, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NV passed away January 12, 2021, at the age of 98. Lucille was born December 13, 1922 in Jasper, Alabama. She moved to Las Vegas in 1958, where she married Walter Matthews. Lucille served as a deaconess at First Baptist Church for many years. Lucille was a bank teller for Wells Fargo when she retired. During her lifetime she was involved with several women’s organizations, including Beta Sigma Phi and P.E.O.
Lucille felt fortunate to be able to travel extensively throughout the world. She especially loved cruising. Lucille was very social, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed meeting people. She enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball. She belonged to the U.N.L.V. Boosters Club. She would never miss an Alabama football game on T.V. Throughout her life Lucille always had dogs and cats that she loved dearly.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Walter Matthews, and her sister Helen Hopewell. Lucille is survived by her son Vincent Matthews (Sharon), granddaughter Angela Santos (Doug), and great-grandson Connor Santos. Sisters, Elizabeth Moore and Bettye Parham.
Lucille will be remembered as a kind, loving and generous person by her family and friends and will be dearly missed. A family service will be planned for a future date.
