Maximino “Manong” Torbela Tosino, 81, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2020 at St. Rose Siena Hospital after fighting the COVID-19 virus. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Urdaneta, Philippines to Eugolio Juan Tosino and Maria Semella Torbela. Maximino married his true love, Rosalina Naluz, on May 22, 1966 after winning her over with tactics such as reading a newspaper upside down just to get a chance to see her without her noticing. They moved to the United States in October 1968 and settled in Chicago, Illinois.
Maximino spent most of his years working for American Tara Corporation in Chicago. After retiring, he joined his wife in several small business ventures, including a limousine service. He loved driving around the greater Chicago area, meeting all types of people (including some Chicago Bears), and getting a laugh or making small talk with anyone who needed a lift. He and his family moved to Henderson, Nevada, in summer of 2000 and he worked for the TSA. Maximino was a very kind, generous, and friendly man who seemed happiest at family gatherings. At most family functions, you could find Maximino near the barbeque, grilling some of his famous “secret recipe barbeque” that was a family and friend favorite. He was an avid gardener in Illinois, but after moving to Nevada in summer of 2000, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was able to experience places such as China, Italy, England, Jerusalem, Greece, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia to name a few, but adored visiting his native land in the Philippines where he could view the beauty of the country and visit family. He enjoyed going on cruises with the family. He also enjoyed the occasional night at the casinos in Las Vegas and always brought others good luck.
Max is survived by his children, Rona (Tosino) Pankey, her husband, Brian, with two children, Jacob and Rachel; Ronald Tosino, his wife, Kim, with four children Sean, Matthew, Veronica, and Vanessa; and Rhea (Tosino) Bell, her husband, Matthew, and their son, Seth.
