

Ming (Michael) C. Hsieh, age 84, a resident of Henderson, Nevada, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 6, 2018 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital after complications with heart surgery.
He was born February 21, 1934 in Taipei, Taiwan and was the 4th child from a large family of ten siblings. He came to America to pursue a better life and eventually married Luan (Judy) Ying Hsieh in Chicago in 1964.
Ming received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Chung Kung University in Taiwan in 1958. He continued his education at Iowa State University, where he received a Master's degree in Civil Engineering in 1963. Additionally, he attended Columbia University where he earned a Mechanics Engineering Degree in 1965. He worked as a Civil Engineer throughout his career and later as an Environmental Engineer developing structural designs and systems, and engineering solutions to environmental issues. He eventually retired in 2002 in New Jersey and then moved to Henderson, Nevada a few years later.
Ming loved fishing, bowling, traveling, golfing, karaoke, and Asian culture. He was an avid reader and had a wealth of knowledge to share. He spoke 4 languages and was a member of the local Taiwanese Association of Las Vegas. His pleasant demeanor, wisdom, and warm personality were loved by all.
He is survived by his wife Luan; his two sons Geoffrey and David; daughter-in-law Lindsay; and his grandson Nicholas, all of whom live in Henderson, Nevada.
Viewing and funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, February 17, 2018 at Palm Mortuary (7600 S. Eastern Ave.) with reception to follow.
