

Harendrasingh "Nanu" Mahida, 64, of Henderson, passed away suddenly Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He was born in Muktipur, India, Sept. 13,1947, to Haribhai and Devyapriti Mahida, and resided in Port Elizabeth and Umtata, South Africa until 2003. He came to the U.S.A. in 2003 to meet and marry the love of his life, Connie, at the age of 55, and has resided in Henderson for six years. Nanu received his bachelor of science degree in physiology and microbiology from the University of South Africa in 1970, his bachelor of science in zoology from the University of Transkei in 1984, and his doctorate of philosophy in science from the University of Natal in 2000. Nanu taught biology at Hyde Park Middle School, where he molded the lives of many students which he so dearly loved. Nanu loved going out with friends and family to many ethnic restaurants and sharing fun and laughter with all. If you didn't like Nanu, then there was something wrong with you. He loved everyone. Nanu is survived by his wife, Connie; sister, Premila; brothers, Bhupendra, Shirish and Prakash; and family members spread all over the world. Viewing will be from 10 a.m.-noon, Monday, June 18, with funeral services following in the chapel, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas.
