He married his main squeeze Caroline Ferrer-Cruz in August 1999 after dating for 5 years. He took extreme pride in his beautiful, talented and accomplished children - Patrick Rivera Cruz and Raiza Ferrer.
Norman loved the beach even if he never bothered to take a dip in the ocean or take walks on its sandy shores. His idea of going to the beach meant that the resort would have to have an amazing pool with the best bar service. He cherished the great times and annual family golf vacations with his brothers Nestor and Nap. His goal to beat Nap in the game of golf may now never be a reality.
Norman worked hard and played hard. There is no grey, but pure black or white. It's all the way or the highway. He loved work and took great pride in whatever he was involved in. Full accountability and a great work ethic are just some of the traits he imbibed. He was loved by his team/s and fully believed in everyone's potential, their contributions, and more importantly how much they enriched his life.
Norman was always dapper and took his fashion to a whole different level even if he was color blind. He was a perfectionist when it came to his hair and saw his hairdresser every 2-3 weeks. He had over 250 pairs of shoes but loved his TOMS the most. He was an exercise maniac regardless of his extensive travel obligations. He was obsessed with lifting weights and would wake up at 2:30 AM 7 days a week to be at the gym by 4 AM. Although 56 years of age, he had a physique that would put many 20+ year old men to shame. He despised phonies, and had no patience for stupidity. He had a life-long love affair with Chinese food, eggs, mayonnaise, nuts and Netflix.
Because of his irrational fear that his family would throw him a typical memorial service despite his love for a good party, his family will hold a private celebration of life which will be held at the Palm Mortuary Southwest free of any type of “theme” on Saturday August 25, 2018 from 3-4 p.m.
Finally, the family asks that you honor Norman by sending a note, share a story or upload a photo of your time with him. Your condolences and kind words will remain with the obituary, providing comfort for the family for years to come.
