Our Heavenly Father called back Osvaldo (“Ozzie” to his family and friends, “Nonno” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren) on March 9, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. Osvaldo was born in Naples, Italy, in 1932. Growing up in his neighborhood he witnessed the effects of World War II firsthand. Osvaldo’s career in the hotel business for over 35 years began in Italy. He moved to Switzerland, followed by a short stay in London, England, where he met the love of his life, Pamela May Churcher. They were married in 1964 and decided to immigrate to United States. Both became American citizens. They lived in Washington, D.C.; Houston, Texas; Los Angeles, California; and finally settled with their three children in Las Vegas in 1975.
Osvaldo retired from the hotel business in 1985. Not one to be idle for very long he decided to work in tourism. He spoke five languages: Italian, French, German, Spanish, and English. He loved the tourism business because it allowed him to travel and meet new and interesting people. He also enjoyed cooking. He was truly a gourmet! He served as President of the Italian Catholic Federation in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas. His wonderful sense of humor and his Zest for life will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
Above all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Pam, of 50 years; two sons, Osvaldo and Adriano; daughter, Francesca; daughters-in-law, Ellen and Beth Fumo; son-in-law, Mike Velgos; nine grandchildren, Genevieve, Veronica, Gabriella, James, Matthew, Julia, Christopher, Dominic, Noah; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Addyson; and two step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Scotty.
He will be sadly missed and remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 16, at 11:00 A.M. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123 followed by a Celebration of Life at the home of Ozzie and Ellen Fumo.
