Patrick J. Liston, age 79, a retired LVMPD Officer passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011. He was born on November 18, 1931 in Duluth, Minnesota. Following Denfeld High School he served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. Upon returning from Korea he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann, on October 4, 1952. During his early married life he worked for US Steel at the Duluth Steel Mill until its closure. While contemplating the rest of his life he saw an ad in the Duluth News for Police Officers in Las Vegas, Nevada; he applied and was hired. He moved his wife and three children to Las Vegas in May of 1964 and began working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. he became a detective with the LVMPD and retired in 1985. He loved his hometown of Duluth and returned there every summer to celebrate life with family and friends. Pat took great pride in his country, his work, but mostly his family. Pat loved to work with his hands in the garage and something was always under construction at his home. He owned every tool he would ever need and knew where every tool went, often asking his sons where his missing tool may be. He will be dearly missed by his family and all those who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann, his son Jeff (Janice), his grandchildren Jennifer Stephens, Jeff Liston Jr. (Sandy), Jamie Liston (soon to be husband Bob), Crystal Liston, Honey Sanson, Jim Larson, ten greatgrandchildren, his brother Jerry Liston and many other relatives in the Duluth, Minnesota area. All except Honey, (Hawaii), and Jim, (Pahrump), who lives near the Las Vegas Valley. Pat was preceded in death by his children Kathy and Pat Jr. We will all greatly miss you and love you dearly until we meet again.
A memorial service and interment will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Palm Mortuary at 7600 South Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada.
