

Quinnie Martin was an outgoing, charismatic, hard working man. He was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with him throughout his life. Possessed with traditional “old school” morals, Quinnie was an individual who clearly communicated to those around him just who he was and what he was all about. Everyone acquainted with Quinnie knew him as a well-respected man who was a stable force in his community.
Quinnie was born on June 8, 1946 at a local hospital in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Quinnie Martin Sr. and Maxine Martin. Quinnie’s early years were spent in Linden Texas. At the age of seven, his uncle John relocated him to Los Angeles, California. There he was raised by his father and Step Mother, Beatrice Lowe, who he loved dearly. Quinnie was warmly embraced by Beatrice and her entire family.
Quinnie had five siblings, Nathalean, Gean, Willie, Howard and Mary. He also had a host of aunt’s uncles and cousins.
Quinnie was sociable and approachable. Because he was always so straightforward in how he approached relationships, friends and family knew that what they saw was always what they got. While growing up, some of his best friends were Ronald Pendergraph and Tan Grey. Later in life, he became friends with Roosevelt Kline, Gene Belt, James Rowe, Willie and Earlene Thompson and Bill and Dorothy Fields.
In 1967 Quinnie married Sandra Curry. This union would last nearly 44 years until his untimely departure. Quinnie and Sandra were blessed with two sons, Brian Keith and Marcus Quinn. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, Ian, Kamille, Solaya, Naomi.
Quinnie was a hard worker who always provided for his family. Quinnie was never too proud to do any job necessary to take care of his family. His primary occupation was Film Editor. He was employed for over 30 years in Hollywood, California. Quinnie was very proud is his Emmy nomination in 1988 for his work on the TV show LA Law. He also did refrigeration work, owned a BBQ restaurant and an auto transport business.
Quinnie approached his leisure time in the same manner that he approached his life. A person who enjoyed being neat and orderly and one who understood the nature of things, he appreciated the hours he was able to devote to his various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were camping, fishing, grilling and watching his favorite NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
When it came time to travel or take a vacation, Quinnie loved nothing more than packing his entire family up in his RV and going away for long camping trips.
Quinnie passed away the evening of July 8, 2010 at St. Rose hospital, in Henderson, Nevada, with Sandra by his side.
Quinnie fought a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his wife Sandra, sons Brian and Marcus, two daughters in law, Cathy Martin and Jessica Martin, four grandchildren Ian, Kamille, Solaya and Naomi. Services were held at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, NV. Quinnie was cremated and brought home to rest with his family.
