

Ralph H. Saavedra, lovingly known as Raul H. Saavedra, passed away unexpectedly from heart surgery complications on April 12, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born in Las Vegas at Sunrise Hospital, August 12, 1961, and attended Bonanza Elementary school, Gibson Junior High School, both Western and Chaparral high schools, as well as UNLV. Raul was the son of Ruben and Olga Saavedra, both of whom were born in Cumpas, Sonora Mexico. Ruben and Olga provided an extremely loving, warm, optimistic and safe home for Raul to thrive in. Raul is survived by his pride and joy, his son Cristian, of whom he was so proud. He is also survived by his sister Sylvia Teuton and brother Dr. Rubin Saavedra, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Raul chose law enforcement for his profession. He was a Marshal for the City of Las Vegas for 27 years. He then served as Marshal for Clark County Family Court for the last 10 years. Raul was highly regarded for always treating people with respect and kindness, no matter the situation. He was proud to serve the public and his community. Although Raul enjoyed his profession, his true passion was music! He was a truly a gifted musical artist in every sense. He could play virtually any musical instrument by ear alone. He especially excelled at guitar and keyboard. He was also a prolific songwriter and great singer. Raul's many great works included his album "Take A Chance" and a local concert performance to benefit CASA with musical artist Craig Chiquico. Raul was also talented in many other areas, he spoke other languages including Russian and Spanish, was a certified marksman, and he could paint, draw, dance and design. He was able to communicate the beauty around him through his artistic lens. Raul's true gift was his enthusiasm and effect on others. He was kind to all, always saw the good in people, and gave words of affirmation to those around him. He was a master storyteller and the life of any party. Raul's spirit will be heard for eternity through his music and his kindness, humor, energy and love. He will be desperately missed by all of those lives he has touched. He is predeceased by his parents and his beloved chihuahua Pepe. Service and Celebration will take place at King David Memorial and Chapel, Las Vegas on Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 A.M.
