This is a picture of Richard from 2020, shortly after I had met him through our mutual friend, Salim. My chapter of knowing Richard was short, but it was deeply positive and impactful. The following year (2021) Richard, Salim, and I lived together in Somerville, MA. Richard was a delight to live with! We had our desks set up in our home office and would work daily next to each other. He enjoyed going on midday walks to grab a sub from Subway and an Arizona Iced Tea. He was brilliant, funny, warm, and a true joy to be around. 

Life is unpredictable and fragile. I believe it’s important to leave a positive impact on those you meet, no matter how brief the time, and Richard certainly did that. I’m grateful I got to meet Richard and live with him for a short time. I will cherish those memories.

Christmas with the Roommates. December 2016.

My heart hurts to learn of the passing of Rich, he was truly a genuinely kind and loving person. Out of all the people in my life, Rich was someone who I could truly talk to for hours and he and I would explore the world of thought together. My best memories are of our long talks through the night, sometimes until the sun came up sitting in our rocking chairs just talking about life and the philosophy of the world. Or him trying to teach me how to not suck at basketball. I can still hear his laugh to this day; one that was warm and welcoming. The world lost an incredible person but heaven gained a beautiful angel. You will be missed greatly Rich. My condolences to the whole Basile Family.

This day will always be on my heart.  We had a great time. I will forever miss you. Love you.

Rich was one of the first friends we (Sarah & Nick) made when we moved out to Las Vegas back in 2021. Nick met him at the poker table and they quickly bonded over their love for anime, poker, and chess. Rich was quick to make a joke, serious when he needed to be, and such a compassionate person to us. 

Eventually we moved in as roommates back in 2023 for about a year. He was often very busy with work, but whenever I (Sarah) needed help with anything, and he was nearby, he would come help me out. I remember one time my car tire lost air and he drove 30 minutes out of his way and helped me fix it. Some may say that's a small deed, but to me it was a blessing from a friend that I'll never forget. 

We often watched stuff together (the whole Harry Potter series, anime, etc) with Rich and would be cracking jokes the whole time. Every time we passed by hot cocoa in grocery aisles we would stop to think "Does Rich still have some at home?" because he enjoyed it more than anything else. Although these were all small quirks and experiences, we'll never forget the joy and laughter Rich brought to us, and hopefully us back to him. He was a truly kind soul and he will be missed.

One of my favorite things about Rich was his sense of humor. I’d sometimes experience something I thought was super funny and no one besides me would appreciate the humor, but Rich would and that was very special for me. I will miss him so much, I can’t believe he’s gone.

One of the many reasons I was so lucky to have Rich as a friend was that he was always down to hang out and have a good time. I remember many times calling him and asking if he wanted to go eat somewhere at that very moment and he would. It wasn’t lost on me how fortunate I was to have such a wonderful friend.

I remember walking through the casino with Rich as he told me about how some slot machines were much better than others, I was skeptical of this claim but I also knew Rich was very sharp so I was hopeful we would find one of these good machines. Sure enough we did and Rich hit the feature right away! We had to wear masks at the casino at the time but you can tell Rich is quite pleased underneath his.

This is rich from July 4th, he was finally feeling healthy and ready to conquer the WSOP Main event for the first time. He had been working really  hard to make the strides to a better life.  My cat and animals loved him as much as anyone with a soul that pure. He will be dearly missed.

You have been missed greatly and so loved.  I thought we'd have much more time with you.

Peter and I are so very sorry for your loss. This was a shock to both of us. Not sure how to help except to offer you all our love and support. We hope Rich learned how to play cards because I am sure he is doing that now with Rocco.

Rich was a gentle kind soul whose smile was infectious! He was unbelievably bright but humble with his gift.
He will be missed by his Aunt Madeline and Uncle Paul.
May peace greet him in heaven.

Rich, Little Rich. I remember growing up with you as kids. All the great memories and all the holidays we spent together. I will always remember all the good times we were able to spend together. May you Rest in Peace. Uncle Rich and Aunt Tammy, my prayers go out to you and I love you both.

Rich, Lil Rich as we knew you.  We watched you grow up next door from a boy to a man. We are saddened at this news. Many prayers for Rich Sr, Tammy, the siblings and family.  Rest in peace. You were a good boy and great man. 💕
