

Robert O. Mikes Jr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 4, 2024. Bob was born in Camden, New Jersey on October 1, 1937, to Robert and Veronica Mikes. His family moved to Phoenix, AZ, when he was 9 and his sister Ronnie was 5. It was in Phoenix that he met his future wife Lee who lived across the street. After joining the Air Force in 1956 he was stationed at Williams Air Force Base. He then joined the Federal Aviation Administration and moved to Costa Mesa where their two sons, Robert F. Mikes and Steven E. Mikes, were born. While in the FAA, Bob was stationed at John Wayne Airport, Long Beach Airport, San Jose Airport and finally McCarran Airport where he retired in management. Bob enjoyed traveling around Nevada and the world. He was a Scout Master, American Legion member, Winchester Town Advisory Board member and a member of the Italian American Club. Bob enjoyed family occasions and spending time with his friends. He enjoyed his family and always said "family comes first."
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lee, and his sons Robert and Steve. He had three grandchildren, Caroline, Rebecca and Ethan.
A memorial will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary at 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123 on March 23, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
