Sam was born in Cambodia in 1944. Her parents were Chinese immigrants who traveled to Cambodia to have her and her seven siblings, four of whom are still alive. She was married to Kong Heng and had a total of six children. Due to the war in Cambodia, Sam and her family immigrated to the United States of America in November 1975. Kong and Sam sponsored multiple family members from abroad (Vietnam and Cambodia), giving them a new beginning. Sam worked as a homemaker and seamstress in her younger days. She always smiled throughout her time with her family, cooking delicious meals, watching her grandchildren, spending time with her children on vacations, and watching Chinese dramas.
Sam will forever leave a legacy of being a woman with a heart of gold. No matter how much hardship she experienced, her smile never faded. She was known to be selfless, kind, loving, and sweet. She will be dearly missed.
Sam is survived by five children: Keith, Linda (Kenny Sr.), Steve (Kim), Jenny (Joey G.), and Holly (Joey T.); her 18 grandchildren: Kenny Jr. (Alexa), Cindy (Anthony), Sandy (Moises), Billy, Ailina, Lynn, Eileena, Jarod, Ryan, Annie, Joenni, Austin, Emily, Cassidy, Wendy, Mey, Lucky, and Raksmey; three great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Kayden, and Andrew.
