surrounded by family on March 25, 2022. John was born on November 28,1929 in Toledo, Ohio
to Eugene Wesley Harbauer Sr. and Nettie Mae Harwick Harbauer, step mother Ivey Harbauer.
John joined the United States Air Force right out of high school. On April 28,1950 he married
his beloved wife, Beverly Ann Duquette, in Chandler, Az after meeting at a Catholic Youth
organization. John and Beverly were married for 66 years. Their children were born in various
states due to John’s military service. During his 20 years of service to our country he received
numerous commendations. In addition to his military career John supplemented his income
working as a custodian at a NCO Club and at the local pizza shop. After his retirement from the
military, John continued with his strong work ethic and dedication to provide for his family by
working numerous jobs. Never afraid of hard work, he joined the Carpenters Union and after 10
years as a union carpenter he transitioned to residential construction. In between he was a
baker and assisted with his sons paper routes. Let's just say he was never one for letting grass
grow under his feet. However, he did make time for his hobby’s hunting, fishing, and watching
sports, (Minnesota, Vikings). Besides being a hard worker, loving husband, father, and
grandfather, he was quite the practical jokester and had a lighter side to his personality. His
grandchildren never found his cookie jar empty.
