Steve was born April 19, 1968 to very proud parents in Fargo, ND. He didn’t like the cold then and found a way to escape it later in life. He was the son of David and Judy (Duval) Gebeke. He was raised in Fargo and grew up with many friends and managed to stay out of trouble most of the time. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1994 with a degree in Architecture. While working in various jobs in several different areas of the country, he finally settled on being warm as a City Planner for the City of Las Vegas.
He spent 19 years with the City of Las Vegas and enjoyed his house and friends that he had. He was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand but never wanted anything in return. He was the local representative for the NDSU Bison and ran the local watch parties that many alumni visited.
Steve will be missed by his entire family and all of his friends that he met. His parents, his brother Mike (Chris) and his sister Stacie will have a difficult time at the weekly family calls. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Avila (Al) and Lucille Duval and Louis and Cecilia Gebeke as well as many aunts and uncles. His remaining aunts, uncles and cousins will miss hearing about his time in Las Vegas as well.
Steve spent many days working with his friends to support the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation for Camp Cartwheel. He spent his final days at Nelson Adelson Hospice where he was cared for incredibly well. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Camp Cartwheel or Nelson Adelson Hospice. There will be a memorial service held at Palm Mortuary – Eastern at 10am on July 11th with a reception afterward.
A memorial service for Steven will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Palm Mortuary - Eastern, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123, followed by a reception from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
