Sue, when I first met you I was only three years old. Amanda and I became the best of friends throughout the years. When I came over you and Art included me in as like being one of your own kids. We had countless awesome sleepovers! You were by far definitely one of the best and most amazing moms I have known throughout my entire life. You had a warm spirit, a warm heart and made everyone around you happy. I want to thank you for letting me be a part of yours and your family's life. You will always be and have a place in my heart. You'll be missed but never forgotten.

While growing up you treated me like one of your own. You had your hands full with the other six kids but made me feel welcome into your family. You kept Art Jr. and I in line, most of the time, but you allowed us to still be kids. I would like to thank you for letting me be a part of not only your life but your family's life. It is inspirational to see how one person had such an impact on so many. You will be missed but your spirit will live on.

I didn't know Sue too well since our paths only crossed a few times. But she made an everlasting impression just those few times. Sue was a wonderful and loving woman with a big heart. She had the kindest eyes and she loved her family deeply. She was the strong matriarch of her family and always made me feel welcome when I would come over to hang out with Amanda. I wish I had gotten to know her better but she lives on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of even just knowing her. She raised beautiful, strong and wonderful children who are a reflection of the type of person she was.

You watched me take my first breath and I watched you take your last. But a thousand words could not bring you back...I know because I tried. A thousand tears could not bring you back...I know that too because I've cried. Mere words could never begin to express the depth of my emptiness. My heart has been broken and split in two; one of those left with you. I still wake in panic at 3am in hopes of finding you, but then reality slaps me in the face and painfully reminds that I've lost you. I can no longer see you with my eyes but I spy you in my shadows. I can no longer touch you with my hands but I can feel the warmth of your touch. But one thing remains the same...I can still and always will feel you in my heart. To loose someone I love so much...it's a crushing pain beyond belief. There are no words to ease my hurt, my sadness or my grief. They say that time is a healer of wounds, but as the time goes on, the ache I feel inside my chest is no closer to being gone. The mind, instinctively protecting its sanity, only covers the wounds with scar tissue and the pain merely lessens. The wounds will still remain and in turn I will never again be the same. Nothing cuts through the absolute devastation of living this life without you. I wish I could just sleep right through this pain of missing you. It may come off as looking strong on the outside but behind that laughter and slight grin from time to time...your little girl is so far from being anything close to fine. Oh my beautiful Mama...the hardest thing is not talking to someone you use to talk to every single day. I can no longer crawl in bed next to you and lay my head on your chest...only to hear you say, "Geez your hair stinks...but it's ok lay here anyway." Oh the sentimental things you would mutter! What I would give to hear those words again from your little lips. Your love is and always has been made of deep devotion, sacrifice and pain. It is endless and unselfish and always enduring come what may. For I am confident nothing could destroy or take that love away. It believes beyond believing when the world around us doubts. It is like no other and no one else will ever know the strength of your love for me. After all, I am one of the only ones who knows what your heart sounds like from the inside. I know you would have never left me if you didn't know for certain that your baby was going to be just fine. So I will continue to hold on to that and carry on as each of these days pass me by. But know that your absence has gone through me like thread through a needle. Everything I do and will ever do will be stitched with its color. I love you with every inch of what remains of my heart. Until we meet again...

My heart is breaking for the Emling family right now. You have been through so much over these last several months. If there is any comfort knowing that others are grieving with you and feel through your loss, the huge hole that has been left in the Emling family by Sue's death, please remember we are indeed with you, surrounding you with love and concern. Amanda, I know how much your mother meant to you and what a central role she has played in constantly connecting your family. I met Amanda in the 8th grade and was immediately drawn to her personality. Of course my wonderful memories of your Mom stem from my adolescent years into high school days too. Mama Sue always warmly welcomed me into her home and often I lived at your house more than I did at my own. The sleepovers, late mornings, prom night and of course our famous midnight snacks that she called us crazy for indulging as she sat on the couch and ate her bowl of Hershey syrup (there was ice cream somewhere under it I think). The Emling house was always filled with treats that were shared generously. Of course we didn't always appreciate the behind-the-scenes work that she had to go through like producing a well-stocked fridge, an extra bed to always crash in or tons of blankets to make our own! She was disappointed in us at times and rightly so when she came home to a hole in her drywall after a party along with a few broken trinkets! She stayed calm, held you responsible and explained that you had to earn her trust back just as a Mom should. You would give her the "mommy I love you" face and in a snap all things were forgiven. She would have done anything for you! I'll always cherish the good times at the Emling house and the memories that your mom was a large part of. She was a true lady, dignified, lovely, and patient. Qualities like that never exist in the same person. She was one of a kind for sure.

I came to know Sue through Stephanie. I remember when her parents would go on vacation back to Du Quoin she would be so sad and wonder how could she possibly be away from her Mom for a month or two! When I heard Sue was sick I worried how it would affect the whole family. Losing a Mom is tough, especially one that you have a great relationship with. One of the things I loved about her is that she loved her children! You could tell by the way they loved others. When Stephanie came to work for Sizzler in her teens, she and I became very close and she would call me Mom. I know if she showed her even a percentage of how she loved me then Sue was a very lucky lady. Because I knew I was loved and I know for sure Sue was a hundred percent more loved by Stephanie. What a great love to have. Sue was a very special person and always made me feel welcome when she saw me. I want all of you to know how sorry I am for your loss. She will always be missed by you. That's not something you just get over. Look for little signs to know she is around. When you find that something that you see that reminds you of her, recognize it and you will see it constantly! That is her way of letting you know she may not be here physically, but she is with you always. It doesn't make it easier but it helps alot. I love you guys and pray for peace at this time for everyone.

I never had the chance to meet my Aunt in person, but from talking to her on the phone and text messages she stole a piece of my heart that is forever hers. She was a kind loving person who put others before herself. Always made me feel loved even though she really didn't know me. She was there for me even though she didn't have to be and we are miles and miles apart. I love you Aunt Sue and we will meet one day. Rest in peace and keep a watch over our family please. With all my love forever. ❤

You were very fortunate to have such an amazing mother Amanda. I have many great memories but a few stick out more than others. You definitely had the most amazing house and your mom would always feed me very well. I remember constantly eating all the bags of chips and she never ever got mad!! She would just know it was time to get more and let me say...they were always replenished! I always wanted to go to your house because your mom would let us have so much fun. She would make us laugh all the time. Of course we were good girls and we never got in trouble! I had a blast with you and your mom during our softball days! I remember she had a very distinctive laugh. She was a great mom and she made me feel welcome and like family any time I would come over. She was the best! I know Sue was a great mom and person, because I see the same in her daughter, Stephanie.

So sorry to hear about Sue. She was a great neighbor. She was a mother who knew how to get the job done and that was to stand at the edge of my driveway while her daughter talked me into buying from the fundraiser she was involved with at the time. I always enjoyed a good laugh when I talked to her, she had a great sense of humor and looked out for my house while I was away for weeks. My sincere sympathy to her family. She will be missed.

Sue always treated me very kindly and was so welcoming. Even when I ventured to the Du Quoin lake when they were in town with Art Jr. We would always catch up with life. One instance was when Art Jr was in town Art Sr offered me a sandwich. Upon Art Sr finishing his sandwich he dusted off the crumbs and was going to put the plate back in the cabinet. Sue called him out right away. "It's not dirty, it just had a few crumbs on it." he said. "Throw it away!" she demanded. For some reason I can't think of Sue without that story racing through my head. In fact, I was prepared to mention it to her during the wedding rehearsal dinner. I will miss our yearly conversations!

To my wife,
I was lucky enough to be a husband for 32 years to the biggest hearted women I have ever met and been privileged to have loved. I will be with you again. Love forever, your man.

We were close friends with Sue for 33 years and loved her dearly. Sue loved her family and was an inspiration of love to all who knew her. We turn her over to loving God who created her and fully expect to meet with her again because of her faith in Christ.

Sue was such an amazing and sweet person. I have such fond memories of the times the family would be in Illinois during the summer. I remember being so excited to go stay with Amanda at the lake with them. One time she picked me up in their jeep, and the wind was blowing like crazy and I remember her asking if I was having fun and telling her yes it's just a little bumpy and her laughing and smiling so big. She had an amazing laugh! I remember her trying to teach me how to cross stitch, even though I was terrible at it and probably wasn't a very good student! She didn't mind though, and was very patient. When I think of Sue I think of how cheerful and caring she was, and she was always such a joy to be around. I know her memory will live on through all the lives she has touched over the years.

I am so thankful to have met and been around someone as loving and caring as Susan. Her love and commitment shows through her children and grandchildren! Heaven is very blessed with such a bright Angel! You will forever be loved and remembered through the legacy you have left behind. In loving memory of you I say thank you for all you did in your life and may you Rest In Peace. Forever and with much love.

Sue was ALWAYS at the softball fields, with the girls, when Amanda was coaching. Sitting in her chair with a smile on her face and cheering for the girls. It was like all of our girls were hers! She didn't see them as just another group of girls. It was extremely clear that they were just a few extra granddaughters to her. She gave them words of encouragement, even when a few just needed good old butt whippings! I will always miss that beautiful smile. She was truly an amazing woman. I'm so very thankful my daughter Emma and I had the privilege to know her. She will always have a place in our hearts.

Susan will be missed by many. She was a wonderful and loving Mother, Wife and friend. I really appreciate the opportunity I had to honor Susan by being a pallbearer. Stay strong and love you all.

I was 17 when I meet Susan at IHOP. We hit it off as friends almost immediately. She was alot like me. I always loved Susan and she was always so good to my boys. It's just sad that we all didnt keep in touch. She and Pat lived up stairs from me and Danny. I remember, it would be like six in the morning and she'd be vacuuming and banging stuff around. I would get so mad at her! But boy she sure kept a clean house! She was always smiling and laughing. We'd get all you kids together and run around and play. Those were some very good times. Your Mom will truly be missed and thought of often.❤ you kids!

If I had to pick one word to describe Sue Emling I would chose the word warm. She was the kind of friend and woman that just being in her presence made everything feel ok. She had such a genuine smile, it came from her eyes and went straight to the receivers heart. When I would pull up at work and see her car was already there it made me happy that I would get to spend time with her. When I think of Sue I just smile and I can guarantee she left that impression on so many others.

I couldn't think of what to say that would amount to the kind of woman you were. Your humbleness, kindness, courage, spaghetti and smile. You always found a way to turn any situation into a good one. You never let it show if you were hurting or sad. You kept a smile on your face while making sure everyone else was okay. My emotions are all mixed up right now. Even though you just left it still feels like just yesterday you were knocking on the door to get me up for school. You always made sure I took a pop tart or had some cereal before I left the house! You always managed to believe in me even when I didn't believe in myself. I can't imagine how holidays are gonna be without you. I know for sure it will not be the same. But I know you'll send a little butterfly my way to ensure me that I can do it and that I'm gonna be okay. You are truly an amazing woman that will be missed dearly! I love you Grandma, to the moon and back. Your great granddaughter says hi.

Although we only met a handful of times at the softball fields, you were always very kind and supportive of your daughter's coaching and of all the young ladies you watched play. You seemed so happy and content just to watch life happening around you. It was easy to see why so many adored you and the love you had for your family. You remain a blessing to your children and I know your spirit will continue to live thru them. May you and your family find peace and the stars shine brighter knowing you keep watch over your loved ones.

This wonderful lady treated me as her own son. Always asked if I was hungry or thirsty when I came by. She always laughed at my little jokes with such a giving heart. This wonderful woman always lifted my spirits. You will be missed Susan.

My Aunt Sue was truly one of a kind. I have never met someone as caring and selfless as her, and her amazing qualities definitely shined brighter than ever when it came to her family. To have felt as though I was one of her own grandkids was the one moment that I will continously cherish forever. Only a truly special person like my Aunt Sue could have provided that for me! She was always there for me, even through all the hardships, when most people would not have cared. She never stopped loving and caring for me and always made me feel like I was truly a part of this family. It's never easy losing someone that close to you, especially someone that touched your heart in so many ways. One thing I know is that my Aunt Sue will still always be there for me, as she would always tell me to, "Keep your head up, Tiffy." I'll always miss you, but this isn't a goodbye, it's more of a see you later. I love you Aunt Sue, always and forever!

Grandma, it has been lonely without you lately. Everyone says the 1st year is the hardest, and I would agree. But rather than feeling sad, I am happy for you. You are in a better place now, and I will always be happy knowing you are watching over us. I love you grandma.

You were a nice, blunt, and loving lady to me. You left behind a legacy of strong willed kids and grandkids that will likely change the world. Love you Sue. Rest in peace till you see your loves of your life once again.

My husband, Cletus, and I have a great memory of your Mom. We live on the Du Quoin City Lake, across the neck from your Mom and Dad.  One day Sue was sitting on her porch and Cletus was mowing our grass. He pulled up very close to the edge of the lake and the brake didn't work. Needless to say, Sue saw him ride the lawn mower right into the lake! She yelled over and asked him if he was ok, then ran in to get Art. She sent him over to help pull the mower out of the lake and to check on Cletus. Everything turned out ok and we all had a great laugh. You and your family have our deepest sympathy. Your mom will be deeply missed!

I just want everyone to know that I have Sue to be thankful to for my 35 years of marriage to David. We had broken up and he had started seeing another girl. Sue really wanted me and David to be together so she called me and told me that if I had any feelings for David I had better do something because if I didn't it would be to late. So of course I did do something about it and I have had a wonderful life. I'll always be thankful for her match making talents. Love us.

Susan it's hard to say goodbye. I want to say thank you for the time we shared together. You were my best friend and I thank you for our two beautiful daughters Cory and Stephanie. I loved you very much...until we meet again.

We only got to know you for a short time. But in that time my kids grew to love you like a Grandma. You welcomed them into your home and treated them like your own Grandchildren. You lit up the room and had a smile that was contagious. I'm thankful I got to meet you and will never forget you.

My Grandma was the most unselfish person I have ever met in my life. Although I wasn't her blood grandchild she loved me as if I was. It never mattered who you were she cared no matter what. She was always there for everyone and I always knew she would be there for me when I needed her. She never judged, she forgave and never held a grudge. It's heartbreaking that such a wonderful person was taken from our family. She was the glue that kept us all together, she was the one that loved to every extent! To know that she won't be there next Christmas or next Thanksgiving makes me wanna go back and remember all the memories and never let them go. When I heard she was gone I felt my heart drop and every time I remember she's gone I just can't believe it. You will forever be missed Grandma. I know you will always be looking after me and some day over my children. I love you more than words could ever explain and miss you more than my heart can take.

There really are no words to adequately describe you or the way you touched so many lives. Losing you was one of the hardest things I have ever had to experience and I know it won't get any easier. But I find comfort in knowing you are at peace and free of pain and suffering, probally laughing like crazy with Grandma and Grandpa and my precious angel, Darrien. You were an amazing woman, mother, wife and grandma. Patient, caring, kind, loving, stubborn like me and so very SELFLESS! You were a nurturer and giver never once a taker. You believed in second chances and were always there with open arms and a loving smile to those around you. You gave me the greatest gift a mother can give a child and that is unconditional love. You gave me life and never once asked for anything in return even in the times I disappointed you. You always continued to love me and guide me as only you knew how. I miss you so much Momma and I wish I had more days with you to tell you how much I love you, how thankful I am to be your firstborn and how sorry I am for not always being there. Thank you for teaching me love, patience and independence. I hope that as I continue on this journey called life that I can be as great a mother to my kids that you were to all of us. You are an amazing woman. In the few years I have known you, I am so grateful for all that you have taught me and all that you have given me. You gave me advice, advice that I will use every day, about how to be a great and loving mother, even if they are not truly yours. Sue was not only my sister-in-law, she was my friend.  Her family was her life, and she always put everyone's needs before her own.  She was a private person and kept her heartaches to herself, but boy, could she show love to her family and friends!  She worried about others more than she did about herself.  I remember many great family get-togethers at her and Art's home through the years, Sue always making sure her guests had everything they needed.  In September 2013, Art, Sue, Paul, Kathleen, Jerry, Jim and I took a cruise to and from Hawaii.  We had fun just being together.  Sue made sure that whatever we did, we did it as a group. The trip was great and left good memories of the brothers and their wives being together.  She has returned home to our Heavenly Father who gave her life.  She is with her parents and other family who went before her.  Until we meet again, love you and miss you.

My first memories of Aunt Sue are of a time before she was Aunt Sue.  When I was little, the Lozenskys were usually a part of our extended family gatherings, so it was natural when Sue, Cory and Stephanie officially joined our crazy family.  The memory and example of her unselfish desire to love, serve and forgive will always come to my mind.  There was not any time where Aunt Sue spoke meanly of another in front of me, and she was always available for a hug and an understanding ear.  She will be greatly missed by me and my family.  Living by faith, I know our Heavenly Father has provided us with a plan for eternal life.  Using this knowledge, there is a realization that the pain experienced now is due to momentary loss, not never-ending despair.  She is by the sides of those who have gone before her, and she will be there when all our times have come.  I love you, Aunt Sue; you will always be in my heart, and all of us will be reunited one day.  This absence that is felt here in our mortal existence is just a blink for you in the realm of eternity.  Love you!  See you again when the time is right...

Aunt Sue was one of the most amazing women I have ever met.  She lived her life so unselfishly. Her kids were always her priority no matter what. You guys are so lucky,  she wasn't even my mother and I feel blessed to have been able to receive some of her guidance. I can only wish to be half the mother and role model she was. Her laugh and smile were contagious, she always could brighten your day. She was upfront and open with everything. If she didn't like something she would let you know. No sense in beating around the bush. I admire her for that. She was a wonderful woman,  mother, grandmother, wife, sister and aunt. I am very thankful I was able to be a part of her life and her a part of mine. I would have loved for her to have held Ruby. But I'm luckier because instead she is with her right now looking over her. I love you Aunt Sue very much.

I have no words. In my mind I know that our time is limited with everybody in this world, but for some reason it is still hard to accept that simple fact when someone you love is forever gone from it. Grandma wasn't blood but that never mattered to her. I was her grand baby and she loved me as much as any of my cousins. She had my back even when others doubted me. She saw the best in people yet she wasn't fooled by a nice smile. She could spot a snake in the grass from a mile away. I don't know what to expect in the coming years without her. I don't know how I'm going to walk down an aisle someday or have a baby knowing that I won't be able to just look over and see her amazing smile or hear her contagious laugh. I love you grandma. To the moon and back, and I know that if I ever need you, you'll be there.

I can't say I didn't imagine it would be this hard here without you. It was a day I truely never wanted to come, but it has, and I feel broken, lost, and scared. But at the same time my heart feels full of memories and love from you. We've always had our own special bond with a trust that cannot be broken. You were my mom first and my friend second. You taught me so much about life, but you forgot to teach me how to live without you. You were the sun to my shine...the heart to my beat...the star to my burst...and the day to my dream. Life definitely won't be the same without you here but I know you are watching over me everyday. When I feel the wind blow I imagine you are hugging me and when I see a butterfly I feel you are near. Tears just can't seem to stop falling no matter how hard I try. I will miss you every minute of every day and I will go on living this thing we call life with a kind smile and with love in my heart the way you would want me to do. I will always be your "mini me". It is hard to put my feelings into words but I would just like to say that I am so grateful for all of the years I was lucky enough to know you. You were a second mom to me and always there for me day in and day out. Your smile and your infectious laugh will always be in my mind. Thank you for everything you've done for me. Thank you for helping me through some of the hardest times in my life. I wish I was able to be there for you during your last months on this earth but I find comfort in knowing you were able to see my girls and hold the baby. To see the smile on your face when you held her is something I will always remember. You were such an inspiration in my life and there is not a day that goes by I don't think of you and all the wonderful times we had and all the wonderful advice you have given me. Even though it has been more than a month since we lost you it seems like just yesterday that you were with us. I can't begin to describe how much we miss you. I try to remember all of the fun that we had such as taking us to the races and making us fried chicken and potato salad, you coming to Vincent's 8th grade promotion, or going shopping with me and Mandy for stuff for my wedding,or our vacation last year. I remember everything you have done for us kids such as running home from the airport(30 minutes each way)to bring me a hat for ROTC that I forgot when I was in high school, or helping me recover from my surgery. In every event that we do in our lives you will always be a part of them because not only do we remember you everyday but we remember you more on those special days. I know that you are watching over us with the angels and your beloved butterflies. I love you forever and ever and while you may not have my smile you have my heart. You are my one true mom. Hugs and kisses forever.

Thank you so much for being such an inspiration to my sister "T" and my entire family. I wanted to offer my deepest sympathies to Amanda and her family as they go on with their lives, reliving every new day, the pain of loosing a loved one. Sue's heart so full of love will live on in each person she has touched. I know it will live in ours as she has changed our lives forever.
