Terese M. Bartee

Loving. Caring. Kind. If only our Dearest Terese (Tere) Marie Bartee, had more time. Like a ray of light shining down from the Sun, Tere gifted to this world on April 5th, 1965, left a broken place in our heart when she sunset this earth on September 24th, 2020.

Tere was born in Brookings, South Dakota, to Janet (Jan) Sue Taylor and Robert Charles Webbenhurst. Her father, a United States Air Force veteran, Tere lived at eight military bases throughout the world before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, to stay, and where she resided for more than 38 years.

Finding her way through life, Tere was a professional wrestler (Paisley) in the Powerful Women of Wrestling (POWW) organization. In 1985, Tere met the love of her life and life partner, John Martin Bartee, at a house party on 29 Babbit Drive in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the many great times in their life. Spending the next 35 years together, Tere and John were married on February 3th, 1990, and never spent more than 2-weeks apart at any given time.

Love matters. Kindness matters. Caring matters. A life well lived, Tere lived a life that embodied these values. Throughout her life, these values were on full display. As a primary and junior school educator, Tere had one of the most important jobs in the world - teaching our children, teaching our future, teaching our leaders of tomorrow. As a certified teacher school librarian by trade, Tere was one of the original, living, and walking search engines. Excelling in her 22-year career, she was recently elected President of the Clark County School Librarian Association (CCSLA).

As a magna cum laude alumna of UNLV, education was of utmost importance to Tere. In 2000, she received her bachelor of science in elementary education, and in 2004 a master of education degree in instructional and curricular studies with an emphasis in library science.

Students, family, friends alike, all those who knew Tere, can say that it was truly an honor and blessing to know her. Her infectious laugh and smile had a lasting presence in any room that she entered. Her embracing hugs had a lasting impression on the friends and family with whom she shared them. Countless stories of the many lives that she touched echo through shared sentiments. Even beyond this life, Tere is still giving and having an impact on humanity.

A renaissance woman, Tere was an avid reader. She was a lover of the arts, and she loved the crafts, Broadway musicals, the Smith Center, Mob Museum, and unscripted television. She loved to travel, and some of her favorite places were New York, Liverpool, and London, England, and Paris, France.

Tere is survived by her loving husband, John; parents Jan, Robert and his wife Joanne (Jo); brother Kyle Webbenhurst and his wife T. Phillips; several caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special lifelong friends.

Tere, taken from us too soon, remains forever in our hearts, and always until we meet again.
