Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ted carried his deep love for his hometown with him throughout his life. He began his career as a barber, proudly owning and operating a barbershop in Chicago before making a life-changing move to Las Vegas in 1973.
In Las Vegas, Ted built a long and respected career in the casino industry. He started at the Stardust and continued on to the Frontier and Santa Fe, ultimately retiring from the MGM as a floor supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and the relationships he built along the way.
Ted proudly served in the United States Army and remained a man of quiet strength and loyalty throughout his life.
A devoted Chicago sports fan, Ted especially loved the Chicago Bears—“Da Bears”—and also cheered enthusiastically for his hometown Las Vegas Golden Knights. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: spending time with his beloved wife, taking trips to Laughlin, enjoying the excitement of the casinos, and traveling—especially his memorable trips to Italy and back home to Chicago.
Above all, Ted was a devoted husband, married to his beloved wife, Carolyn (Gulli) Cechota, for 58 years. He was a cherished uncle and great-uncle to many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cechota and Violet Cechota-Zitko; his brothers, Jon and Mickey; and his sisters, Shirley and Marion.
Ted is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Gulli) Cechota; his loving sisters, Janice (Mike) Wolski and Joan Kay; and his brother, Tom Zitko, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Ted’s legacy is one of dedication, love, and quiet strength. He will be remembered for his loyalty to family, his hardworking spirit, and the warmth he brought to those around him.
Memorial services will be held on April 15, 2026, from 12:40 PM to 1:10 PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
