Proud Korean War veteran and retired FDNY firefighter
Thomas J. Page Sr., a proud Korean War veteran who served honorably in the United States Navy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Following his distinguished military service, Thomas dedicated over 21 years to the Fire Department City of New York (FDNY), also known as the Bravest, courageously protecting and serving his community as a firefighter. He had the privilege to serve with Engine 288, “ The Maspeth Mutts,” and finished his career at Engine 268 and Ladder Company 137, “The Beach House”.
Born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and raised in Middle Village, Queens, Thomas exemplified dedication, hard work, and integrity throughout his life. The house he moved into at one year old remains in the family. While serving with the FDNY, he also worked for over 35 years at the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburg, where he met the love of his life, Hannah, originally from Cork, Ireland. Their love story, which began at the bank, capitalized into a remarkable 66 ½ year marriage filled with love, faith, and mutual respect. Thomas firmly believed in the values of diligence and punctuality, principles he upheld in every aspect of his life.
Thomas was a devoted husband to Hannah and a proud father to three sons: Thomas and identical twins Kevin and Paul, who worked at the Dime Savings Bank at various points, continuing the family's deep-rooted connection to the institution. His grandson Daniel and two of Hannah's sisters also joined the legacy of service at the bank.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Hannah; his son Thomas J. Page, Jr. and his wife, MaryAnne, married for nearly 42 years; Kevin J. Page and his wife, Patty, married for 34 years; and Paul C. Page and his wife, MaryAnne, married for almost 32 years. Collectively, the Page family shares an extraordinary 175 years of marital commitment. His greatest pride and joy was his family.
Papa/Grandpapa was a devoted family man who would do anything for his loved ones. His generosity knew no bounds—he was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. A stranger to Papa was just a friend he had not met yet. He was fully engaged in the lives of his family, always attentive and eager for detailed updates on their lives. His unwavering support was evident in how he never missed a family event and was always the first one there.
After retiring from the bank, Thomas continued his professional journey as a limousine driver for the Mirage, where he dedicated over a decade of service from its opening day.
Thomas was a cherished grandfather (Papa) to Daniel (Denise), Colleen, Jacqulin (Mike), Alexis, Lauren, Hannah (Anthony), and Erin, and a proud great-grandfather (Grand Papa) to McKenzie and Harper. His lifelong belief in the power of education was reflected in his family's numerous academic achievements, which include two Juris Doctor degrees, one Ph.D. candidate, 10 master's degrees, 12 bachelor's degrees, and five associate degrees earned by his children, their spouses, and grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes, and his sisters, Mary Albert, Irene, and Ann.
His legacy of service, integrity, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial mass for Thomas will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89052.
