I was saddened to hear of Mr. Vivolo's passing. I knew him many years ago as a hard working, loving father and husband. May he rest in peace.

So grateful to have worked with such a wonderful man. Working in the hotel department  at Fitzgeralds, we had many discussions about hotel keys but I loved talking to him about everything Italian. He was always kind, cheerful and brightened my day. He made this world a little better place to live in and look forward to meeting him again in heaven. Prayers and hugs to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news of  your Dad's passing. He was a very special man who was always wonderful to me as were growing up (as was your Mom) Please give your Mom my loving sympathies. All your family I hold deep in my heart. I know you will miss your Dad so much but you have many, many happy memories to hold onto. I know he's working in heaven making sure everyone is taken care of as he did here. (I also saw that your Uncle Dom passed in Oct. ... My sympathies to his family too. Sunday midday meals at your house with he, Aunt Mary etc. were some of the best times of my life)

I will always be thankful to uncle Vince for teaching me how to paint. I still use those skills today painting rooms in my own house and helping friends and relatives that seek my painting expertise thanks to Uncle Vince. We sure had some laughs painting homes in Lackawanna.

Uncle Vince was always a very positive person and always brought out the best in people. He was always quick with a smile and a joke or two. 

He loved his family and although he was proud to be Italian, he had a reverence for being an American citizen. When Italy won the World Cup in 2006, I called Uncle Vince knowing that he must be excited. The first thing I said was" Viva Italia." Uncle Vince responded "Viva America." Now if that's not acknowledging respect this country, I don't know what is.

You all have my deepest condolences for your loss.

I will miss you uncle Vince but your memories will linger with me forever.

Dear Dad, 
There is much I will miss about you Dad.  Your wisdom, encouragement , kindness and commitment to family.  Most recently, I will miss our weekly Saturday morning shopping trips to Sam's Club, Walmart, Sprouts and sometimes Lee's Liquor for wine, CVS pharmacy and local barber shop for a haircut.   I also remember numerous trips to Urgent Care. It was during those times we spent together that we would talk about family and life. You told me how hard you worked for our family so you could provide a better life for your children. As you were talking it occurred to me that unknowingly you had inspired me to have the same aspirations for my children.   Most importantly you proved to me that true love does exist. You told me the secret to true love was to have mutual respect, kindness and to work together. You told me you loved Mom just as much now as you did 68 years ago when you first met in Bagnoli Irpino, Italy. It was very difficult for you to care for Mom with Alzheimer these past 10 years. You never complained and never wanted help. You wanted to care for Mom even in the most adverse conditions. Dad, you are the epitome of true love. What a wonderful gift you have given Mom and all your children and grandchildren. I am proud to be your daughter and I will miss you immensely.

For Grandpa
With an ever-present smile on his face and a glass of red wine in his hand, grandpa was everything and more that you'd expect from an Italian gentleman. Of course he could make his own sausages, grow and cure his own olives and even make his own wine. He was a man of many talents, but the greatest gifts he gave to all of us aren't something that can be made. He was the foundation of our family and the source of countless traditions that helped shape the lives of everyone he knew. Grandpa was proud, strong and inspired us all to laugh, love and to never stop working hard for what you believe in. 


As one of his nine grandchildren, for me those traditions are synonymous with family. Growing up, our Sunday family dinners were always something I looked forward to, and it was for more than just getting to eat all the delicious food. They made every Sunday a momentous occasion. I loved showing up at Grandma and Grandpa's house and seeing all my family - my friends - and feeling like I was part of something special. As I got older, I realized that I really was. Those Sunday dinners became a source of support and good memories and provided me with a sense of grounding that has helped carry me through all of life's ups and downs. Few people are lucky enough to have the endearing family unit that we do, and all that started with Grandpa.


His unwavering commitment to the family, especially Grandma, is something you only read about these days, but for all of us, it's a reminder of the power of love and tradition and just how important and influential those things can be. Just like all his delicious cooking, it seems like he also had the perfect recipe for happiness and instilling that in others. While grandpa is no longer here, I'm looking forward to carrying on his family traditions as a way of celebrating his life and continuing to share and spread all the love and happy memories he left us with. Although I met Vince only relatively recently, I soon appreciated that he was a strong moral force from whom I learned many valuable lessons. I treasure the memories of our Saturday grocery shopping trips.

Remembering all the good times Dominic and I spent with your father and the whole family, not only in the backyard 
in Lackawanna,but also Chestnut Ridge, Niagara Falls, The Botanical Gardens, the farm on Bay View Rd., the Knights of Columbus parties and of course OLV.

Vince loved company. He was a happy, genial host. He always sat at the end of the table with his back to the window and the wine bottle at the ready.

One of the special things about Vince was his wonderful Italian accent, which sometimes kept us guessing just what he had said.

I always admired Vince's devotion to family. He always worked two jobs to provide the best he could for you all of you. It is a tribute to him and your Mom for all his family has achieved.

Grandpa, you have had a huge impact on my life and I will never forget you.  You instilled in all your children and grandchildren your strong work ethic, love of family and amazing Italian cooking.  I owe my passion for cooking to you and Grandma.  I am so lucky to have had you as my grandpa!

So many great memories of Uncle Vince and spending time as a family. Summer get togethers in the garage on Colton Ave, picnics at Chestnut Ridge, trips to Niagara Falls, and Christmas Eve dinner. We're so glad we were able to spend time with Uncle Vince, Aunr Connie and Vegas family on our recent trip to Las Vegas. I have so many fond memories of Uncle VInce. There are a few things I will never forget. His amazing smile, which seemed to brighten a room. Dancing to Italian music outside on a hot summer day. The "locka shop", a place he absolutely loved working at. However, the one thing I will never forget about him and will be forever grateful is introducing his nephew, my dad, to my Great Nonna's granddaughter, my mom. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have the amazing parents that I have today. Thank you, Uncle Vince. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Love sent to you all!!!

Mr. and Mrs. Vivolo were faithful parishioners at the 4:00 pm mass at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where I am Head Usher.  I was always amazed at how Mr. Vivolo looked after his wife and how patient he was.  He was sharp as a tack and they appeared to have a wonderful marriage.  My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones.

Dear Aunt Connie, Lena, Marianne, Dona, Joe & Adrian, Uncle Vince was a great husband, father and Uncle. He will be remembered for his laugh, dedication to his family, and his willingness to help others. We will be forever grateful for him bringing myself and Vincenzo together. You are in our thoughts and prayers just know that we will be thinking of you even though we are so far away. We love you.
