

Vincenzo Vivolo, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Jan 10, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 1, 1921, to Giuseppe and Maddalena Vivolo, in Bagnoli Irpino, Italy. Vincenzo immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in 1950, settled in the Buffalo, N.Y. area and worked for the Hanna Furnace Corp., retiring in 1985. He moved to Las Vegas in 1986 to join his children. He started a second career with Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino as a locksmith, retiring at age 89. He was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Maria Concetta "Connie"; two brothers; one sister; daughters, Maddalena Fontein, Mary Ann Moracco (Ron) and Dona Vivolo Griffith (Phil); sons, Joseph and Adriano Vivolo; and nine grandchildren, Lauren, Caroline, Peter and Andrew Fontein, Daniella Moracco, Alexander and Cristina Griffith, and Maddie Jo and Samuel Vivolo. Vincenzo was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Council 5693 and was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus since 1958. He was a member of the Lake Erie Italian-American Club in Lackawanna, N.Y., and the Italian-American Club of Southern Nevada. All who knew him remember his love of family, friends, his beautiful gardens and his ever welcoming smile. Vincenzo was very proud to be an American and would often be heard toasting "God Bless America." Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 Eastern Ave., NV 89123. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way, Las Vegas, NV 89108. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Italian-American Club of Southern Nevada Scholarship Fund.
