We all remember our family trip to the East Coast and being welcomed by Uncle Enging, Auntie Flor, Virgil & Michael. Thank you for taking us to NYC (seeing the original World Trade Center and taking our first subway ride). We also enjoyed the trip to DC and remember Uncle Enging “mastering” the traffic circles. And yes, Auntie Flor, was “directing” while Uncle Enjing did the “mastering” 😊.

We also enjoyed the Chinese Menu @ Coronado Café – Southpointe. Delicious food, shared in good company.  Uncle always asked how our jobs were, and we always said, can not wait for vacations. Uncle also included Louie in many conversations and shared bowling stories. On our most recent visit, uncle shared his sense of humor and laughed off his slip & fall. So glad Virgil was home. We will always remember his love for family, strength, and laugher. You will truly be missed!!

My favorite memory of Enging was when I was still in college and he was still working in the Philippines.  He was 15 years older than me and he would sometimes ask me to run errands for him.  Whenever he needed to give a gift to whoever was his girlfriend or love interest at that time, he was “very thoughtful” and really  “made an effort” to give the best present.  He would give me the money, ask me to buy whatever I think she will like, have it gift wrapped and then give it to him.

Back when I used to travel to NY in connection with my job at ARCO,  Enging would always come to see me.  Once he took me to a show on Broadway, once to a dinner in an Italian restaurant which he said was frequented by the Mafiosos, once to a dinner at a place where I eye-witnessed actual horse races.  Totally a first for me.  But my most memorable memory of him was when he was driving Manolo and me around when we stopped by on our way to Atlantic City for a convention.  Flor  was directing Enging,  “Dad, change lane,  stay on this lane,  getting to the exit ramp, etc”.   When I commented, “Flor, for somebody who doesn’t drive, you’re a heck of a back seat driver,”   Flor’s response,  “I have to because he broke his eyeglasses and couldn’t see much”.   Then I groped our seatbelts to make sure they were securely fastened.

Dearest Auntie Flor, Virgil, Michael, Noah and Maya,

One of my best memories I have with your family is when we came to visit you all in New Jersey with my whole family (my dad Vicente, Melba, Karen and Abby).  It was a great time to bond.  I remember being so amazed at your house and how many stories it was.  You were all so hospitable and friendly, taking us to see the sights.  Family is so important to us.

I am touched at how well you all cared for Uncle Enging.  It is a true testament of your love and honor for him, and it’s a holy service unto God done in humble and quiet humility, but showing strength and wisdom for future generations to follow.  

I know Auntie Flor is in good hands.  And Uncle is so proud of his legacy in you…. Prayers for peace and comfort for the days ahead.  We love you all!

Thanksgiving memory with Enging Flor and Virge

Enging was with me when I got married and had my first baby Mariciel. I drove him to the arms of Flor with my constant yelling at him like”Enging stop throwing your chewed gum on the ashtray Cielo already swallowed one of them.”

Absent in the body.....PRESENT IN THE LORD! Enjoy the BENEFITS OF HIS KINGDOM.....PREPARED FOR YOU BY OUR LOVING AND MERCIFUL GOD. MAY YOU REST IN ETERNAL PEACE, DEAR FRIEND. And for your loved ones left behind, I earnestly pray for STRENGTH AND COMFORT.  GOD BLESS US ALL.
