

MSGT. WAYNE LEWIS U.S. Army National Guard, Retired Wayne Charleston Kalani Lewis, 68, of Henderson, entered eternal life with his Heavenly Father April 8, 2012. He was born March 7, 1944 in Honolulu. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 33 years retiring in 1996. Wayne loved to golf and play his ukulele to his beloved Hawaiian music. He was a founding member of Ka-Pa-Ka, a Hawaiian musical group that shared the beauty of the Hawaiian music with all, a member of the Hawaiian Legends Ukulele Club, a Halau member and musician of Kailiha'o Hula, and member of the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club. All will miss Wayne's enthusiasm for life and his love for his family and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, Alexander Lewis (Laverne) and Rodney Lewis (Lana). He is survived by his loving wife, Shirl Lewis; daughter, Summer Bilski; stepson, Earl J. Gordon; two grandchildren, Marley and Temperance Bilski; and 12 siblings, Azalea Stokes, Arlington Lewis (Amelia), Gwendolyn Garcia, Wendell Lewis (Sharon), Nathan Lewis, Alexandra Kano (Gradon), Michelle Lewis, Renee Logan (Clarence), Liane Humphrey, Verda Moana (Joseph), Spangler Lewis, and Charmaine Kim (Harlan). Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 29, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Burial will be in Honolulu, at Diamond Head Memorial Park at a later date to be determined.
