William (Bill) Pulver passed away on April 22, 2014, the day after his 93rd birthday. He was the son of Johanah and Marie Pulver who came from Switzerland for a better life in the USA. Bill's mother died when he was just 4-years old, and his father had to leave his young son with the Hugie family who were the people who sponsored them. They already had six children but Bill blended in very well and was treated good. He grew up in Logan and was active in school. He was called to be the Amphion Business Manager when he was a senior and learned many things that helped him later in life. Soon World War II was on them and nearly everyone got a job. Bill went to work in San Pedro, California building ships for the Navy, etc. He was one of the best workers there and later he was called to serve for the Merchant Marines. The first ship he was on was a Liberty Ship and that was the same kind he had helped build. When he had a leave he met a wonderful girl named Joyce Frampton. Bill's sister had introduced them and it wasn't long until they were engaged. Later they were married at her home in Logan, Utah. When the war was over, he came home and went to work for F.W. Woolworth (a five and dime, it was called). He liked the work and it showed and he stayed with them for 44 years. During that time they had three children John Pulver, Robert Pulver and Nanci Pulver. There was much moving to different places in the West, and Bill worked long hours and it was difficult for his wife and children but through it all, he was a wonderful father. On June 23, 1960 they were married in the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and their children were sealed to them. It was one of the best decisions they ever made. Since then they have been blessed with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and two who have been born this last month. The Lord has been blessing all of us. Bill was very active in our Church and held several positions. One that was outstanding was when he was the Employment Director and helped many people get jobs. Home Teaching was what he did every month. His quiet personality and helpful attitude will be missed.
