I miss you, Daddy.  Just really needed to tell you that today.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Asit da.  I still remember the warmth with which both Bula di and Asit da welcomed me to Cincinnati, way back in 1985!  I remember little Pitu and Jhuma.  And, distinctly remember the day they moved from Cincinnati to the DC area. 

While we have not been in touch in recent years, the fun we had together, and the memories from the past are crystal clear.  Please accept our condolences.

Dear Dad,
We honored you on Father's Day by going to Conowingo Dam--one of your favorite fishing spots.  The birds were very beautiful there. Though it was a difficult day, we found a way to keep you in our hearts on Father's Day.  Love, Jhuma

This has been a very hard weekend--it's been exactly one month since we've been apart.  We are continuing to take care of Ma like we promised you we would.  I've been going through our old photos and they are only reinforcing what I've already known--that I have one of the most kind-hearted, loving, and humorous fathers around.  We miss you so much. Dear Dad, I miss your peaceful personality and gentle presence so much.  The last two weeks have been tough, but the memories and stories of your humor and kindness have helped remind me of the wonderful father-in-law I had.

Dearest Daddy,
It's been two weeks since you have left us for a better place.  I am still in too much grief to be eloquent with my words at this point, so I will write again.  For now, I'll honor you with one the greatest gifts that you gave to us--your sense of humor.  I hope you find the best chai wallah in heaven.  Oh, how I miss making tea for you.....

My barokaka. Down the memory lane when I look back to my childhood days many sweet memories glitter in my mind. Some memories are exclusively mine. Some I heard from my mom & dad. His affectionate & witty nature is still alive in my memory.

"I grew up hearing about Bhusumama, his wits, his talents, his affections for others. The tales of him which I majorly heard from my mom are the threads connecting me to him even though I stayed more than 13000 kilometre apart. Today, I know for sure that we never lose someone our own, even to death. He will always remain close to our hearts and thoughts."

Asit Da, We sure will miss you a lot. You have been a very good friend as well as like a  brother to us since we met in Cincinnati. Your kind heartedness and selflessness has always surprised us.  We pray for the courage and strength for your family and for all of us to carry on, like you did, with conviction of love , dedication to the family and caring for friends. Let there be peace upon your soule.
