

Mr. James Herbert Polk Sr., age 87 was called to external rest at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab after an extended illness on Saturday, October 1, 2016. He was the youngest child born on June 13, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, TN to the late MerLinda A. and Jule Polk.
Polk as he was called enlisted in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War, and a retired electrician from Union Carbide in Lawrenceburg, TN. He had a love for carpenter work, working in his yard, and helping family and friends. Polk also coached Post 217 women’s softball team where they were regarded as one of the top women’s team in the county.
Polk professed a hope in Christ at a young age. He joined St. John United Methodist church where he was a devoted member and held numerous church offices. He attended St. John faithfully until his health declined.
He leaves to cherish his memories: children James H. Polk Jr. (Diane) of Hendersonville, TN; William Jeffery Polk (Kathy) of Unionville, TN; devoted daughter Regina Grayson (Raymond) of Lawrenceburg, TN; six grandchildren Latoya, Jason, Ashley, Christopher, Desmond and Derrick; Eleven great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Davis of California; brother-in-law; William Scott Barnett (Ernestine) of Nashville, TN; sister-in-Law Katherine Timmons of Columbia, TN; sister-in-Law, Stella Barnett of Columbia, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
