Fujiko was born in Okinawa. She loved being outdoors and frequently went to the beach enjoying
the ocean and sunshine. She excelled in sports at school where her competitiveness was evident. Her favorites were track and field and volleyball. She was touched that her father traveled on foot to watch her compete at school events.
In 1972, she and her family moved to Guam where she thoroughly enjoyed a 23 year career in luxury travel retail with DFS. She often danced with her Okinawan colleagues at company functions. She retired in 1996 and moved to Austin, Texas. Shopping, dining out, and walking in the park with her husband Lucio, and dog Momo, brought her happiness. She loved NHK, the Japanese channel, for entertainment and news. After her husband’s death, she moved to Kapolei, Hawaii to live with her daughter and husband for 8 years, delighting in the weather, colorful plants and flowers, and access to Japanese food and products. Her final move was to Leander, Texas in 2018. Her greatest joy was being with family, and was blessed with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and was loved.
