Isaac was the brightest of boys - curious and intrepid and always leading a merry band of followers into some new kind of trouble. His sister and cousins are too polite to tell you about those misadventures, but they'll not tell you without a big grin.
Isaac spent his young adulthood on a grand adventure in the Northeast. He worked as a sound engineer for gigging musicians, made lifelong friends like Patricia and Steven Achenbach, and Tommy and Heather Hill, and by all accounts partied very heartily indeed.
He settled down in Austin, landing a job with Dell. He feared that he would lose his job when one of his epic practical jokes went a bit too far. They attempted to give him a ‘stern’ talking to with straight faces and he soon realized that there was no ‘clowning around’ at work. No pun intended. Soon after he fulfilled his heart's desire to work for Volkswagen as a master certified technician. He had inherited a significant mechanical aptitude from both sides of the family, and somewhere along the way picked up a particular fondness for European cars.
Isaac met Claudia when they both worked at Dell in the nineties and their paths crossed again in 2001. They began dating then and married in Las Vegas on June 6th, 2006. Triple sixes were lucky in Claudia’s family, and he delighted in the irreverence. Claudia’s two daughters, Shelby and Kennedy, were 15 and 6 at the time. Isaac was the steadiest father to them that they had ever known.
At the age of 49, Isaac broke free from his cage and truly came to life as Isobel. Emerging as the brightest star that’s light gracefully shined on everything around them, truly impacting anyone around her with the smallest of gestures. Soon after, she became a very proud grandma by the birth of Shelby’s son JJ in November 2022.
Isobel unexpectedly passed away in the early morning on June 12th, forever leaving a chasm in all who knew her.
Isobel is preceded in death by Doug LeGrand, Howard and Billye Jo Davis, Bess and Bates LeGrand, and is survived by her wife Claudia, children Shelby and Kennedy, sister Rebekah and nephew Daniel, cousins Mason, Janna and her two sons Cameron and Joel, and grandson JJ and bonus mother Christina LeGrand, Aunts Amy Jo and Dee Dee, and cousin Jennifer.
There will be a celebration of life for Isobel on July 8th. Due to the many lives she touched the location is to be determined. Please reach out to [email protected] if you wish to pay your respects to such a wonderful person.
Those who knew her knew her well, those who didn’t wish they did. Please feel free to us the "add a memory" link at the bottom of your screen to share a memory or story of Isobel.
