Joe graduated from Sam Houston State University. After a brief stint with the military, Joe carried out a successful, impactful teaching career for nearly four decades. It was during this time when Joe directed and wrote hundreds of productions. Upon retirement, he wrote two young adult novels, in addition to a collection of monologues. A natural creative, Joe worked diligently with paints and inks in his later years, often showcasing his artwork in Cedar Park, Texas.
Joe was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed camping and hiking. One of his favorite places to visit the great outdoors was Colorado. At the campsite, he was always the first one up in the morning. He was kind to strangers. He loved his two brothers and his parents. He loved to spend time with family. He loved to spend time alone, working on creative projects. He reached the hearts of hundreds of people. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed.
Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Marfin; their son, David Fullen; in-laws, Gary and Debie Marfin, Randy and Nancy Marfin, Karen and Don DeSale, Joey and Dottie Marfin, and Diane Fullen; nieces and nephews, Melissa English, Jarrod Marfin, Eric Marfin, Jesse Fullen, Shelly Hartnet, and Stacie DeSale.
