

Kevin Jay Burns, a devoted husband, father, grandfather (Pop-Pop), brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 2nd, 2024. Born on December 19, 1962, in Livonia, Michigan, Kevin later made his final residence in Leander, Texas.
Kevin pursued his academic passions, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Engineering Management from UT-Austin. Until his passing, he served as Manager of Software Development at MKS Instruments, leaving an indelible mark on every organization he touched, including the Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis, Indiana; Data Race in San Antonio; USAA in San Antonio; Polycom in Austin; and Bose in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kevin was an adventurer at heart, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. An adept wakeboarder, water skier, and boat captain, he embraced life's thrills with absolute enthusiasm. His love for music found expression through his mastery of the guitar, often showcased with the Rock Pointe Church worship teams.
Cars and water were Kevin's passions, reflected in his meticulous restoration of vintage muscle cars and his countless hours spent fishing, water skiing, and wakeboarding. As captain of his own boat, he cherished leisurely cruises on Lake Travis, finding peace in the calmness of the water. His fondest memories were always near the water, whether in the coastal shores of Rockport and Port Aransas, or amidst the picturesque Midwest lakes, particularly Lake Michigan.
In every facet of his life, Kevin poured his heart and soul, giving unreservedly to his family, friends, and faith. He was a pillar of unwavering love and support, a beacon of humor and joy, and a cherished mentor to many, extending his wisdom and kindness freely. His devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren was boundless, his love profound and selfless.
Kevin's impact reverberated far and wide, touching the lives of all who crossed his path. He readily assumed the role of a surrogate father to countless of his children’s friends during their formative years, offering guidance and encouragement with unwavering sincerity. His faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of his existence, evident in his heartfelt worship and tireless dedication to his church community.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by his beloved wife, Judith I Vazquez-Burns of Leander; his son Diego Flores, daughter-in-law Erika, and grandchildren Sofia and Louis of Round Rock; his daughter Diana Flores and granddaughter Luna of Redford, Michigan; his youngest daughter Alana Burns of Leander; his brother Rick Burns of Farmington Hills, Michigan; his niece Chi Burns and nephew Justin Burns of Livonia, Michigan; and a vast extended family and lifelong friends.
In the wake of his passing, Kevin Jay Burns will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his boundless love, unwavering faith, and enduring legacy of kindness and generosity.
