Patrick Gerard Fugere was born in Portland, Oregon, to Gerard and Ruby Fugere. He spent the majority of his life in Yamhill, Oregon, before making his home in Leander, Texas. Patrick served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was proud to be a Master Mason. He was a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and to many, affectionately, “Uncle Pat.”
Patrick lived a simple and genuine life—what you saw was truly what you got. He was always happy to see those he loved, greeting everyone with warmth and a ready smile. His fondness for tropical shirts, his admiration for Marilyn Monroe, his enthusiasm for race cars, and his endless supply of candy for the grandchildren will be remembered with affection. As a cousin once said, to them, “Uncle Pat was a Giant.” He made people feel welcomed and loved, and we hope that when you think of him, you smile too.
Patrick is survived by his children, Pat and Cathy Fugere, Michelle Fugere; his grandchildren, Chelsea Fugere, Blayne Fugere, and Cody Alexander Fugere–Salazar; and his great-grandchildren, Neo, Kayla, Governor, and Izelle Barconia; Claire, Charlotte and Cassie Rich. He was “Uncle Pat” to many nieces and nephews: Lahna and Trevor Fox, Lynnae Fox, Doug and Laura Fugere, Crystal Fugere, Jerrod Fugere, and Kara McKay. While it is difficult to say goodbye, the family takes comfort in knowing he has reunited with his parents, his brother, and other loved ones who went before him.
A service of inurnment will be held on December 22, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at the DFW National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Patrick’s honor.
