Robert Henry Valles passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and deep devotion to his family. Born on February 9, 1940, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Frederico Valles and Rosa Hickman, he was raised in Van Nuys, California. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably, spending much of his time at the Naval Hospital in Guam. Following his military service, Bob built a long and dedicated career in the grocery industry, beginning with Vons and continuing in Arizona and Virginia before joining the Defense Commissary Agency, where he worked for two decades, including assignments in Germany and the San Antonio area, retiring in 2011.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married Nancy Ann Morrow of Brooklyn, Mississippi, on November 2, 1973, and together they built a loving home until her passing on September 8, 1999. He is survived by his children Michael (Cristy) and Mark (Janette) Cressler; Briana Ann Valles Koepp (Kyle); and Robert Sean Valles; and was preceded in death by his daughter Vanessa Lynn Valles on December 26, 1993. He leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory. Bob was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was sealed to his family in the Mesa Arizona Temple and served faithfully in various callings, including the Bishop’s Storehouse, in Austin, and serving in the San Antonio Temple.
Bob will be remembered for his sharp wit, steady presence, and the joy he found in time spent with family. He loved fishing and camping, as well as lively games of dominoes and cards and building puzzles. A true LEGO fanatic, he assembled a massive collection—including what was likely a complete Star Wars set—which became a treasured delight for his grandchildren. His life was marked by quiet service, enduring love, and a sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
