She was born in Phanom Sarakham, Thailand on February 22, 1936 to Khlai and Thongkham Vorakul. Rtie graduated from Thammasat University with a degree in Social Work. After moving to the United States in 1966, Rtie had a varied career working as a social worker, medical technician, and electronic assembler. After retirement, she served as lay pastor for the Thai–Asian Fellowship at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Houston, Texas.
Rtie was preceded in death by her former spouse, Arnold “Butch” Lawrence Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her brother Chakhri Vorakul, and her sister Ariluk Petchkul, both of Thailand. She is survived by her children Arnold “Bo” Lawrence III and David Huang, both of Leander, Texas; her granddaughter Nova, of Kyle; and her former spouse Hsiaonan “Richard” Huang, of Houston, Texas.
Rtie will be remembered for her kindness, her love of God, and her love of hats.
